a lot of companies sell e-mail lists and personal information, and it isn't illegal. not saying DW does it, but it's something they could do because all that personal information is a goldmine.

Yes. They have a copy of their business plan up somewhere if you care that much.

That's what the invite codes are for; it lets them control the size of the userbase so that it can't grow beyond their ability to pay for the capacity to handle it.

The reason invite codes have been off for a while is that the influx of RPers brought so many paid accounts with it that they can afford to turn off those limitations for now.
