rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

i know this is going to sound bad but w/e just here to vent

i was tagging with someone for a while and eventually dropped the thread because it was boring. getting any kind of engagement out of them was like pulling teeth. their writing was fine so i wrote them off as just being bad at rp (no idea who they are, maybe theyre new, no info on their journal)

but i came across them tagging other people and their tags are good? engaging? fun? like wtf. why couldn't they give that to me. and i know someone will say maybe i just suck and maybe i do, but ive never had a situation like this before. the tags theyre giving to other people compared to what they gave me are like night and day and im fucking salty about it

ive been around a long time and have gotten many compliments through the years so idk what gives. i wouldn't be so salty about it if it wasnt a character i was excited about

it sounds like they didn't want to play with you and are just giving you low effort polite responses.

it could be because you were also doing that since you found the thread boring. sometimes i get low effort boomerangs and feed them right back.

it could be your styles or takes just don't mesh.

they could have some secret petty reason like an old beef.

you might have just been way more excited about the thread concept or characters than they were and they save their best tags for their otp.

all that to say it probably doesn't have to reflect on your playing! if you really want to test it just tag them again but put in the kind of effort and skill you hope to receive.

id buy they didnt want to play with me if they werent the one who tagged me first. i didnt find the thread boring in the beginning, not until about five or six in

maybe ill tag them again idk. but ill wait until im not super salty about it

tag them again and see if it gets better? maybe the premise of the thread wasn't doing it for them

yeah maybe. ill wait until im not so mad about it tho. cant promise that wouldnt bleed into my tags lol

sometimes it's about the thread content/theme/bad day/etc and not the fact it's You, though. I've had threads that I really didn't want to seem rude about and drop but I wasn't really vibing with either my own character or the scenario chosen or whatever and was later able to give better tags in other threads. not really sure how to communicate 'sorry i just wasn't vibing with it' in a way that doesn't feel bad to the other person, though.

also sometimes it is that it's You but not you personally, just that they don't know you ooc and so don't feel like they can push the envelope or play around at all, resulting in boring.

def suggest giving them another go at some point, possibly with a setup that's as different as you can make it from the first one

ayrt- oh absolutely. I totally struggle with people whose preferences and playstyles I am not used to yet because I'm afraid to push into territory they won't like— and that's my own thing to push past and get over, not their fault. experience together can make this work better as you get to know each other, though.

i've struck out on threads with long time and beloved rp partners with great chemistry. sometimes the vibe just doesn't work or we approach the idea from the wrong angle and it's suddenly not fun. they can't all be winners!

idk man sometimes if you're bored it's because you're boring. it was probably just that thread.
