Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

big same for naoto from persona 4. i think reading naoto as non-binary is valid but reading her as a man, when her whole shadow was about forcibly changing her body being the only way to have her recognised as as smart and skilled as a detective as she supposedly was.... yeeeah.

and then the writers went on to make catherine which was not! great! on trans stuff!

a character who i think it is valid to read as trans who (granblue fantasy spoilers I guess) presented as female in order to not inherit a crown is miach, where it really seems like there had to be a simpler way, and even when everyone basically knows so there's not really a point to it, still went "oh no i have to live as a woman!"

(which is what i've seen three different trans women do when picking catgirl avatars in ffxiv "the female options are just cuter, so i have no choice!" then a year later, there they are coming out and starting hrt.) ((i love them but it's also very funny that all three of them did that))

but yeah the whole "I think this character is trans because they are buff/small/feminine/masculine" only cements gender binary bullshit.
