Wow talk about bad timing. Just gonna c/p what I wrote from the last post since nothing's changed.

Hi guys, it's me again! Finals are rolling around and I need some nice procrastination material, so I'm offering to do icons and/or Homestuck panel edits for anybody who wants them. Just link me the pictures (and a color ref if you want them colored) and I'll do my best.

here's a link to all of the needed images. first image is a rough reference image of what my oc looks like but you don't need to follow it to the T! feel free to take liberties if the design is difficult to do. second image is the mom lalonde image. i basically want her hair to be black and wavy, touching her midback and she's wearing a black trenchcoat and holding a flask in her hand. third image is all of rose lalonde's talksprites in her seer outfits! don't need to do all of them! just need twelve or less.

Offering manga coloring + oc icons

I'm taking coloring commissions again, detailed info can be found here , The first two panels are free. Other wise for a set of 3 to 14 icons it is 30 DW points, and a set of 15 or more icons is 60 DW points

Recent icon samples I've done




Now for something new, I want to get some practice in with drawing oc icons. I don't really have that many samples but I can draw either anime-style or more cartoon-ish (mainly looking like adventure time / bravest warriors) I'll be drawing a base then doing three different expressions. So you'll get three icons total, I'm not asking for points or anything it's completely free. You can just post to the same post I have up for coloring commissions and just say you want an oc set drawn.

HEY SUP GUYS i'm down to do some more icons if you're down to have me shit gradients all over them! in addition to the GO GO GREASED LIGHTNIN going on up there, i also do obnoxiously bright stuff if that's your bag, although i can promise absolutely nothing quality-wise when it comes to anime/manga/live action. you can check out my comics icons over at vvardenfell even though that's... the same post i've had up since the last time i did this whoops. limit ten images per person, porn's cool.

i actually love your gardient layers! very subtle in most of your icons and if not still nice to look at. what is your sorcery in this.

I'll be honest, everything above was done with a slightly tweaked version of corelite's light bright psd! It's meant for brightening up live action icons, which means anything that isn't already dark as sin is going to come out WAY TOO BRIGHT hence the tweaking, but it's actually surprisingly effective on fanart! One of the gradients in it also turns white backgrounds into this nice smooth greyish color you see here. This is notable because certain effects can turn them a weird cyan bluish color, which is a mondo pain in the ass to deal with.

If you have photoshop (I have CS3, so older versions work as well) and want to make stuff like this yourself, you can apply the psd and then immediately turn off ALL THE CURVES LAYERS because that's what makes them so hideously bright, and then try combinations of them! I find that if the icon is already bright, leaving curves 1 off and messing with 3 and 4 usually works, or leaving 3 and 4 off and sticking with 1. I literally do not understand anything about photoshop so my icons get cropped and run through picmonkey.com beforehand, and ime the clarity tool under "sharpen" is a fucking godsend. I would encourage at least playing with it to see how you like it, because it can really clear up fuzziness and bring out the colors in your icons in a way that's 100000 times quicker than screwing around with curves and levels if you don't understand photohshop at all, like me.

Because my taste in icons is perpetually set to "pretentious", sometimes I like to throw a circular gradient looking thing on it just to give it that "I spent way too much time on this in photoshop" look. Generally they look much nicer when they're smooth and don't have that, but again, pretentious. Sometimes it can help draw attention to the icon subject, as seen here, so it isn't a total crapshoot. SO THE GENERAL PROCESS IS LIKE THIS:



My memory of making this particular icon is vague, but I think it went like this:

1. cropping in picmonkey, probably like 5% or 8% clarity, possibly 1% sharpness, saved in png format
2. light bright applied in photoshop, curves 1 and 4 turned off
3. possibly some very slight color brightening in levels, but I usually don't have to do this very often so idk
4. saved in png format at icon 2 up there, applied the circular thing, saved again

And voila! Sometimes there are extra hoops to jump through and other things I do to polish them up, but considering how I don't understand anything on the left side of my screen when I have photoshop up, I severely doubt you guys couldn't do as good or much, much better than I do. More or less, I'm the best example of how anybody can make icons, whether or not they actually have any idea what they're doing.

Icon Requests + Commissions

I've opened up some of my other services again now that I've gotten... some.. things done. orz



Icon requests and icon commissions up! I raised the limit on requests to 3 icons per user and tweaked with my options and prices a bit for icon commissions (not sure if it's affordable enough though...)



My OC/drawn icon commissions are still open here. I've raised the max icons to 20 to see how that goes for now. I also put up a little discount thing up.

If anyone's interested, I've put up these plurk layouts (and +1 tumblr layout but I guess that's not entirely relevant to DWRP). The first one is not actually that customizable; for instance, I disabled the blurb function because of the theme. If you want to get rid of that pseudo computer screen window and enable your default profile blurb, replace

I'm sorry if it's lame, I was going for a strange grunge look, haha. I think the second one is the most simple, if you like simple styles. Additionally, I tried not putting really light text on light backgrounds, so hopefully a #585858 hex code for the text body of second layout will suffice (if not, you can change that at will). The third layout disables the friends box entirely.

Oh, and I intend on making a DW layout sometime that utilizes the default style (meaning, not the import trick). TL;DR, if you have any questions, try commenting on the entry (just to keep it in one place, but here's fine too).

It's finals time, so obviously it's time for some procrastination as well.

I'm in the mood to make icons and out of people to make them for. I don't need screencaps (I usually take my own and work from there) and I make large batches, so these wouldn't be exclusive, but hopefully they'd give anyone requesting plenty to choose from.

For now, I'm limiting requests to live action and/or relatively popular anime/western animation, as it's a lot harder for me to get access to clean, high quality files for more obscure animes or comics.
