[D] And then I was like

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Concerns?

Hey! Do not post anything outside of these threads. It will be deleted.

Continued from here.

[community profile] risan/[community profile] risanooc

Right now we're looking at an opening date in the next couple of days. I would super-appreciate it if anons could go poke at the profile info, see if there's anything we missed or made unclear in rules or setting. If anyone else is interested in putting up one of the first couple open posts in the DR, that would also be awesome!

GAME BASED ON BANJO KAZOOIE

(Anonymous) 2012-09-21 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a very basic idea for this right now.

L.O.G (http://banjokazooie.wikia.com/wiki/Lord_of_Games), in a suitably meta fashion, aspires to create the ultimate cross-over game. However he is unable to obtain the rights to all the characters he wants, meaning his only option is a nonprofit fan production.

That's what the game is based around. Apped characters are placed into a Goody Team and a Baddy Team. L.O.G will specifically say that moral ambiguity would be too complicated for a big cross-over and jam characters into one or the other, sometimes rather haphazardly. The two teams will be put through lots of pointless challenges, earning Jiggies for the team and Notes personally. Jiggies will be used for earning team benefits, such as upgrading the shared housing etc whilst Notes will be spent on personal benefits, such as retrieving objects from the character's canon, paying to swap teams etc. A lot more pointless collecting would be worked in for various IC reasons.

To fit the inspiration, new worlds would be routinely opened up with the old ones remaining accessible at all times. Previous challenges can be repeated so long as enough characters from both teams can be found to enter them. Whenever a new world was opened, an event that matched the theme would run for a week or so depending on what it was. Whenever a certain number of Jiggies are gathered in total (I'm thinking in terms of every hundred at the moment), L.O.G will add some sort of game changing element, such a common enemy for the two teams, a third team, force the two teams to live in one place. That sort of thing.

AU dressing room?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I like AU meme posts (high school AU! scifi AU!) but I don't really feel up to putting together a formal game, and I'm tired of writing and reading long apps. Is anybody else interested in an AU DR-style game? Either meme-based, or something with a setting and plot continuity. Or something where people can play the same characters in different "lives" with a setting that changes every month or two... well, I'm open to ideas.

Re: AU dressing room?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
I like the idea of the place acting like a series of memes but with continuity. So the setting changing every few months (or even specifying that you're using that setting even after the main setting has changed) but during those months CR and character memories carry over from post to post. So everyone is in a high school AU together for a few months, then suddenly everyone starts over in a sci-fi AU for a few months. But if people still want to make posts from the high school AU they can go for it.

Mythology dressing room?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Studying some classic lit (Homer, Edda, etc) has given me a hankering to play something mythology-based. The setting I have in my mind is the "dead" gods have been reincarnated into present-day men and women. They don't realize at first that they're gods, but find out over time that they are, indeed these people of myth. It's the initial idea, anyway. Tell me what you think.

oh man, this sounds really interesting! [community profile] inthebeginning is the only mythology-based dressing room i know here but it hasn't been active since it opened.

Based on City of Heroes

(Anonymous) 2012-09-22 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
COH announced that it would be closing on Nov 30th. It's rich with story and game lore and it'd make a decent panfandom environment though it might require a lot of plotting by mods. I want to do this although I'm not sure how to approach it since videogame mechanics are sort of irrelevant in this case. What to keep, what to toss?

Temp death? Power nerfing? On the fense about those sorts of things.

Re: GAME IDEAS

(Anonymous) 2012-09-24 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I forget: did anything ever happen with that game based on Borderlands?

Figure I should ask before I start talking, but anyway, right now I'm kind of imagining a game using a sort of mix of similarly themed series for world building, set in a shithole ex-prison colony planet with varying degrees of civilisation (for a rather dubious given value of civilisation) in development.

Remove all or most of people's powers and set it to 'get a gun asap, fight to survive.'

Sure people can try to build up some slice of life, but at least there's an excuse for mods to occasional wreck people's shit whenever they're too safe and/or happy.

It never opened, despite having the comms set up and everything. So heartbreaking, I remember it to this day. Sunny Pandora.

In other words: do it go go go.

GAME BASED ON ZOMBIES, RUN!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
NPCs would be the characters in the canon (Sam Yao, the Doctor, the DJs, etc.) and each character would be a designated runner (save for the canon runners, most who could be NPCs).

Just a passing whim, kind of "hey this could make a fun game setting" - thoughts?

Re: GAME BASED ON ZOMBIES, RUN!

(Anonymous) 2012-09-30 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
I had the same thought a few weeks back. Done well, I think the setting of Zombies, Run! would make a fab game (and Eugene and Jack, man, Eugene and Jack.)

extreme kink/hedonism/brave new world sex game

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
So, this idea seems to have been abandoned: http://rpanons.dreamwidth.org/8749.html?thread=30404141#cmt30404141

Is anyone still interested, because I wanted it like burning and am willing to try to get it up and running if people still want it.

slash game or dressing room

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Would anyone be interested in a new slash game with both males and females allowed? Still working out a premise, but I wanted to weigh the interest in a slash-only game before going all in.

Re: slash game or dressing room

(Anonymous) 2012-09-26 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd be interested! A couple of my friends said they'd join too.

I'm curious how you'd keep it slash only with both genders present?

Totally a longshot but is there a guide out there for putting together a new game? It'd be pretty useful and interesting to read.

(Anonymous) 2012-09-30 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I know that it's been done to death, but is anybody interested in a not so slice of life survival horror taking place in Raccoon City?
