Not a fan of ghosting but I'm getting the most dull responses on this one psl I just want to drop it. And THEY'RE the one that initiated it! Every time my char gives them a chunky reply with questions to hook them in or engage them, I get a flat response that is slowly killing my will to live. Or at least play. Might have to ask them what their deal is.

The one positive is that I'm not THAT invested in the CR because I don't know the canon but I thought it might be interesting to see the characters interact so I agreed. And now they're not really giving me anything to interest me, so it's not a big deal if we end it. It's possible they're also not interested and that's why I get such dead-end responses, but if that's the case, why suggest the PSL in the first place? I don't get people sometimes!

genuine +1. I would rather know for sure that a thread isn't working than be left to wonder.

sometimes flat responses are not someone's norm; they could just be in a bad headspace or struggling for some other reason and it's better to pump out a flat boring tag than no tag at all sometimes. however, i like to go by three strikes rules. if i get 3 [boring/flat/weird/bad/unengaging/whatever] tags in a row then that's more of a pattern and i might start to consider we just aren't compatible as rpers. especially for a psl where ostensibly there's no other limiting factors like activity checks or events or other competing cr.

but, ia with you it sounds like they might also be uninterested themselves. sometimes the IDEA of a thing is more fun than it is in actual practice. super frustrating to be mismatched, but, you never know until you try.

if you're early on in the psl and i'll be the voice of unpopularity and say it's fine to go ghost. it's ok if not everyone is a compatible writer. if you've been doing a lot of ooc chatter prefacing the psl it might be more polite to fire a quick pm like 'i'm struggling can you give me something more here' and see where it goes. either you get better tags or, probably, they'll ghost you instead. success???

as someone who hates ghosting others and gets anxiety chihuahua over being ghosted:

ia. just ghost. there is no way asking why the tags are flat or if they're interested will go well. they likely won't be honest if it's the latter or if things didn't click the way they hoped, and if this is how they write then asking the former will go nowhere and only make them ask more questions. ghost
