It got me checking and going with the mainstay in smut games...

Duplicity has 133 male muses, and 43 female muses, and that 1 Kaine muse. So running generously by a few points of about 75% to 25% whereas GP is running 86% to 14% so do with that what you will.

There are other things to consider too, like the cap and lack of open app around and bimonthly schedule vs dup being open and it’s age.

Idk why anyone really cares much though. 80% of dwrp has always been about slash and 60% of the people who play women actively are neckbeards. It’s always been rough out there for femslash lovers.

That 40% is allowed to care.

Mathematically that works out to 4 people so ok, 4 people are allowed to care.

nah, that still works out for overall number of people playing feeemales

i think it also doesn't help that not a lot of ladies app, period. like for me, all the ladies i tagged in the tdm did not app, and plenty of people who play both genders picked their male characters too.

i also found a few of the players, some who have dropped, to be unpleasant about the divide but they don't reach out to others because "they don't know if they'll be welcomed". yet they complain about people not reaching out to them first while being pretty unwelcoming themselves. the ones who get a lot of play are the ones who are proactive and friendly about getting cr, both male and female.

Not in GP, but the game I'm in decided to have app rounds just for female characters even in months they were over cap, to try and even out the ratio and emphasise girls were extra welcome.

Two people apped. They stopped bothering with the app rounds.

The problem is not in any individual game. "Why is there less fanfiction for the F/F pairings" and "why do female characters not get the love guys do" has been a question asked in fandom circles since we were all on LJ and Aja wrote that writing women was like eating your vegetables. There's a lot of factors, one of which is probably good old fashioned sexism, but unless mods have actual discriminatory rules in place or extra hoops for girls to jump through I wouldn't say any individual game is innately more misogynistic than any other, and it's not something we can change at an individual level.

makes me afraid to ask what ayrt thinks about transwomen. which kaine isn't, but very sus they singled her out like that. 🧐

da here, and maybe i'm being completely naive and extending too much good faith, but speaking as someone who is also completely canon blind: through rp osmosis, i know there is a gender discussion around kaine, but i had no idea if kaine is a transman, transwoman, nonbinary etc. based off the fact that they had to google to understand kaine's gender, it sounds to me as if neither did the counting anon and they just said " + 1 kaine muse" to try to not offend by making assumptions while being unfamiliar with the canon.

btw, i'm the anon who had to google and i was a brand new anon to that thread. i also just remember hearing about how there was gender discussion around kaine, which is why i googled. i put da at the top, but i guess some people missed that. i'm not canon familiar at all, and all i know about them is that every time a kaine comes up, there's always something about gender, intersex and fetishizing what's under the bandages (???), so i googled to see if there was relevance to that. that was the first thing that came up. i have no horse in this race at all.

yeah, i think probably this is a very sensitive topic in the fandom where trolls and fetishists pointedly go out of their way to misgender kaine, and people are assuming that's what's happening here as well. i didn't read it maliciously on the other anon's behalf, personally.

Just for the record, I didn't miss the "da," but I still felt fine calling you a weirdo bc I feel like we should all know by now that "intersex" isnt a gender
