yes. generally if my tag-in is ignored once on a meme, i'll give the player the benefit of the doubt. lots of reasons they might not have come back to it. ignored twice? i assume they don't want to write with me.

exception being if they ignore my first tag-in while tagging everyone else's on the same toplevel. that couldn't be clearer, no second attempt there.

and tbh, i'm a big believer in talking to people but jfc, i also feel like there's a lot of people here who can't catch a hint. it's like if they're caught in a saw trap and the way to not die is to figure out the person who never tags them back, EVER, doesn't want to tag them, they'd die screaming 'idk what's going on why don't people talk to each other???'

Not strictly a game, but I'm gauging interest in a sandbox comm. It doesn't seem to be a thing we have anymore. Nothing elaborate, just a place to put up a post as a starter or open posts with settings. Probably a weekly/monthly event post. A tag system for 'verses. Simple stuff. To make life easier for everyone, pre-ban anyone already banned from bakerstreet/fortanon.

Not sure if memes have entirely superseded this kind of play or if other people are craving it the way I am.

yeah i don't want to be shitty, but when i saw people say they had to split the survey portion alone into multiple replies because it was so long, i couldn't help wondering if they were badly overdoing it....

i am pretty sure they only wanted 1-3 sentences max to explain the choice for their ref. i definitely saw an app that put more into the survey than the other sections too

survey looks ripped from a psych quiz so i assume they're plugging characters into that to sort

not me over here laughing if one of the mods criteria was 'if survey is too excessive, immediate rejection'. padding an app or not knowing how to be succinct would be reason enough in my bod book to reject.

i have a feeling they're new mods who got way more than they bargained for

really hope they take care of themselves and rest and relax their brains and eyes

they're definitely new mods, based on the fact that they thought they could pick out the 100 best apps. it shows they don't have a lot of experience with app review, because they'd otherwise have realized that you can't really compare what makes a good app for character A from canon B, versus character X from canon Y, it's apples and oranges.

i definitely hope they pace themselves and don't burn out, this kind of turnout can be a mixed blessing. but it's been great seeing the excitement, and they're off to a good start!

i actually think the sheer amount of html in the application probably contributed to this. i don't think i write very long applications but i had to struggle to cut down things because my normal 1-comment app length wouldn't fit in 1 comment with all the html also included. the apps look great, don't get me wrong, but the html pads the length a lot.

depending on how fancy you get it can pad by a thousand or more characters, comment limit is 16000

yeah, the html by itself is 3.5k. getting to 16k wasn't that difficult.

like anon above, I don't think about being ignored once, but twice i interpret as not wanting to play. you could maybe use a three strikes rule, but definitely not any more than that.

I think you can, if your criteria is to weed out people who need a lot of mod handholding, can't articulate clearly what their character is, or will be so resistant to the setting that they never fit in, and their samples read like stale wonder bread with no distinguishing characteristics besides the icon used and the name.

I agree that quality is difficult at face value when you have sources that are light on some details while other material is practically dripping with them, but you can get a good sense for who is going to be a source of self-sustaining fun in this game.

Huh? You can definitely pick out good apps from a group, especially if sample threads come into play. Take what fits for the game you want to run.

yeah i don't get this, to me it sounds like the mods are also trying to curate the game to their tastes rather than just accepting the bare minimum of anyone who apps. it's their game, they can set the standard for quality.

quality can be hard to gauge, but it's absolutely doable and the way apps should be done, especially with the first app round to set the standards of the game going forward. I honestly don't know what other options there would be aside from just accepting the first 100 players regardless of quality (which is bad) or not have a cap at all (also bad).

how well it gets executed is an entirely different question, but in concept it's definitely not a 'lol foolish noob mods' decision.
