my inbox is pretty empty due to the holidays. what kind of people do you play? if you throw a sock or something we can coordinate doing a thread and i can try to give feedback.

chances are that it's just bad luck though. finishing threads is hit and miss in dwrp. it's all about finding people who really like to thread to completion and then keeping up with them.

Is it socially acceptable for someone to review an app for you? Like, before I apply to any game - I'm nervous because this would be my first time, and all. I don't want to embarrass myself or make a bad impression out of ignorance.

it's totally fine to do this! i've seen people on my plurk list ask for eyes on their apps plenty of times. if you're on plurk or in a discord then you should see if someone wants to take a look for you.

Tangentially - For Plurk, I know I should make one as it's the common/expected social here, but I'm a bit hesitant since I haven't joined any games yet. Who would I even add??? Are there friending memes or smth? I'm waiting for January's EMP before I post there, FYI, if that's the appropriate place.

you really don't need to make a plurk. plotting posts and/or discord will have you more or less covered.

i've dropped smut threads because the other player seemed to be ignoring everything in my tags and giving me boring responses that didn't use any of my hooks. it was like they were skimming the tags and not really reading them.

i quit using plurk a few years ago because i found it exhausting, and it hasn't really affected my ability to get tags

it feels like more and more people choose not to leave a plurk on the taken pages of games nowadays, so i don't think you should feel obligated to make one if you don't want to

if you find anyone you really like playing with on memes you can ask if they have a plurk, if you want to make a plurk. but you don't need to at all. it's common to have one but not required at all.

like other anons have said, this is totally normal and people do it with their friends all the time.

honestly both variations are such opposite tone shifts and i'm dying laughing at the thought of accidentally hitting send before having a chance to fix it.

character either really wants to beat his ass or eat his ass, but definitely, probably, not at the same time.

i play both slow burn characters, and characters who don't have any reservations or major baggage when it comes to relationships but i don't really enjoy doing super fast shipping either.

am i alone in this preference because it seems like i see a lot of people diving head first into instant shipping, and i'm wondering if it's more popular for reasons i'm clueless about. and also if there's a word for "my character is generally emotionally available enough to handle a relationship but i also don't want to dive into one within like two threads".

Not looking for anything fancy, just the old cliche "girl's father remarries, stepmother is a total pushover, girl bullies her into a sexual relationship" kind of thing. Sprinkle liberally with humiliation kink, maybe some risk of getting caught, possibly even risk of pregnancy (or actual pregnancy, complete with rubbing it in that "you'll have to convince dad it's his.")

Looking to play the step-daughter, haven't locked down what kind of girl I want to play, but she'll be at least 16. Any kind of icons are fine or go iconless, it's all fine. Drop that sock if you're interested and want to hash things out!

I actually prefer slowburn shipping but with the caveat I don't want to be dragged into love triangles or the like in games. I think it might be more rare to prefer the slow build up but I've met others who prefer it as well to the more typical quickburn.

You're definitely not alone, anon. I play almost exclusively slowburn.

I’m loving the variety of canons here! From Dostoevsky to animanga to Undertale, it’s super cool to see all of this cross-canon.

reasons why people get into the habit of doing that:

* trying to keep a consistent narrator presence between both characters in the thread
* they've had bad experiences with other players having no ic/ooc divide and want to clarify every little detail if they see "you" assuming something
* THEY struggle with an ic/ooc divide and want to clarify every little detail if they see "you" assuming something
* they think it's fun because this isn't novel writing, it's rp writing, and they're just spicing it up because it's being read in realtime
* they're trying to save time and give you dungeon master hints of where to steer the thread
* not the best writers and don't have anything else to fill their tags with

Having doubts about applying for a game since I don't think anyone'll like or care for my character or I'll play them wrong. Plus everyone else's writing is leagues beyond better than my own that I feel like I can't hold a candle. I'm scared to write the application for them and to respond to the tags I have on the TDM since I'm worried I just won't do good enough.

i like whatever makes the most sense for the characters in question. i've had a ship where the characters ended up kissing in their very first thread because they just had instant chemistry with each other and both thought the other was cute and went "why not?" i've had another ship where the characters were attracted to each other from the start but then took several months to actually get together because they'd both never been in a relationship before and were too shy to ask each other out even though both of their casts could see that they were into each other. it really just depends.

I'm not here to ask for points, I just wanted to say you're super sweet for doing this! Hoping this holidays has been absolutely amazing for you and that they continue to be for the rest of the year and continue onward to the next! <3
