i tried to get a few meme threads going but they all fizzled out within 3 tags, and i got ghosted on PSL prospects... i'd like to think i wasn't the problem and it was just bad luck, but i've admitted to myself that i'll never be able to recreate the sheer joy i got from RP years ago. it sucks, but at least i can still enjoy reading old threads now and then.

same, nonny. i came back so excited to tag out with my new character but the cr i was able to establish has all fizzled out or slowed to a crawl, and i've been ignored by everyone i've reached out to since october. i don't know how to break back into dwrp and i'm tired of being depressed about it, so it's looking like i'm on my way out too.

it's just such a shame. i really, really like this character and was hoping to explore so much more with her.

I apped to a new game where a castmate I was excited for tagged me back twice, dropped the thread, and hasn't tagged me again since. It's been a couple months and they're still tagging around with other people, otherwise I would have just chalked it up to this time of the year being slow in general.

Feels awkward, man.

i'm loving reading the tdm, but god damn is it overwhelming having that many prompts at once

kind of hoping the number goes down during game events for both the mods and players sake, and that some of these ideas can come up again in game instead of being one use tdm only

it doesn't help that some people have decided to write a novel for their top levels and tag into every single prompt. scrolling through to tag out is exhausting, it took me a couple of hours just to figure out who i wanted to respond to because my brain kept getting overwhelmed

This sounds rough. Do you think they'd react poorly if you started gently redirecting their worries, like "Oh, I've just been slammed by rl this week, excited to begin tagging again though! Do you think it would be interesting if [insert idea you can run with in the next few tags here]?"

i do try to be upfront and let them know i'm slow because of irl stuff, and they always seem to understand, but then get all insecure anyway if i'm not tagging them soon or first etc. i think it doesn't help they admitted i'm one of the only people they're currently rping with, so they're always waiting for stuff from me. i've encouraged them to try memes and other things but i can only do so much :(

Ahh that's a bummer. I hope it works out but I'd get tired of the constant reassurance dance too. If I'm still tagging somebody I'm enthusiastic about the thread!

Trying a TDM for a game that actually really has me hooked that I really want to throw my character into, but I keep getting anxiety over whether or not my top-level is good enough or if my writing or character is bad or not good enough for people to want to tag with.

Especially the OPLAs, I hope none of their players mind their threads being stalked but they all look like they’re having so much fun

i actually liked being able to pick and choose which prompts i wanted to use, there was so much variety (and the two separate arrival scenarios was really cool). better than having nothing at all to react to imo.

Disclaimers that I haven't seen S4 of The Sinner or the last couple of Shetland seasons so I can't speak to whether they fall off, hopefully they're still good!

cw for suicide references and depictions. Also cw for sexual assault references with all of them, although iirc there's no graphic depiction or on-screen sexual violence. Mostly they deal with trauma. It's quite peripheral in Mare and doesn't come up until later Shetland seasons, but it's pretty centred in S1 of The Sinner.

Also they're all in the True Detective vein of 'solved crime, everything still shit' so maybe break them up with a happier series in between :) But they're all worth watching.
