Let's keep it positive!

Honestly, it was a mixture of luck, joining servers and channels I might be interested in, and writing in the public RP channels. Some of them, I just don't click in, but others where I can feel mostly comfortable in, I roleplay my characters in public and interact with those that are in them as well, and eventually write private RPs with them.

I've always wanted a game based around some kind of cosmic gacha game that summons the characters and assigns them a rarity based on their powers.

i really don't have it fleshed out, it just sounded fun.

there are a ton tbh. love seeing the oplas a ton, the cloud and tifa and aerith and also that a basch is even there. i also feel like there are a bunch of other characters i'm just like "wow you're playing them? i love you" that are not popping to mind immediately but know that you're out there and you are loved, rare players. weiss is super cute. we love a rin tohsaka also.

tbf i feel like there's been a distinct uptick in self-identified new-to-dwrp anons asking questions on rpa lately, so it does seem like new blood is gently dropping in and poking around

that sucks about your game tho anon. hopefully next year is a more fruitful rp year for you all around, whether it happens here or on flist/discord

cannot believe we got to witness a classic jaded office drone x gorgeous otherworldly knight drama in realtime...i've even spotted velite/argenti fanart in the wild already, it's great. get that npc this romance stat

Pretty good year for me! Puttered about in one game, and while I didn't click with it super well it was still a good and chill time. Those memorial weekend find-fandom-buddies plurks were also great, and helped me with making some new RP friends!

I even took the plunge and starting writing smut RP for the first time, after doing a lot of smutty fanfic writing for practice. I like to think it went pretty well; RP buddy I wrote with was game for doing more PSL stuff at the very least! And after doing the PSL stuff, joined an invite game and have just been vibing there and having a cool time. Dusted off an old muse for all of this and found that I had a lot of fun with the character, since this was the first time I took a really determined shot at playing them.

Next year I'd like to study the game I'm in and the games that are taking off really closely. Learn from the mod mentors on how they do their stuff; I've got this game idea I'm kicking around in the back of my head, but it really needs another year's worth of simmer-time before I'm ready to do anything with it. Time to learn from the people in charge, and try to iron it into something that doesn't suck!

the thing i need a trigger warning for most is something that sounds really inconsequential to most people and is very specific, but it's tied to the second most traumatic experience of my life and tied to a national tragedy that affected me personally.
it's unlikely to come up in rp so i just don't say anything and figure i'll deal with being upset if it comes up because i don't want people to read it on my permissions and speculate about me and think that i'm so sensitive that something moderately upsetting that happens to children sometimes sets me off. in reality it goes a lot deeper, but i don't want to traumadump to justify my triggers on a permissions page strangers will read let alone do so over a disaster that got memed a lot.

if it helps at all, anon, i literally never think about why people put something as a thing to avoid for them as a trigger warning. i just make a note to avoid it and carry on my merry way. i think most people are the same. there may be some bad actors but generally most people aren't going to do more than go "okay!" and avoid it for you.

I rarely if ever see anyone go into detail about why something is triggering for them. Simply listing your triggers is enough information.

i might think "oh, i never realized that could be a trigger" but that's all, i'd never ask somebody to explain or justify their boundaries to me. if you say you're uncomfortable with something, i'll respect it with no questions asked.

i play enough characters with enough potentially-triggering stuff in their bgs that i never even think twice about why someone might be opting out of them because it's none of my business.

There's a tumblr post about how popsicles, clear broth and Jello can be a trigger for someone (all clear liquids, and often all someone can eat after surgeries while hospitalized). Yes, that sounds incredibly inconsequential to many people, but can absolutely be a trigger.

You don't need to justify anything on your trigger list--or even on a list of 'things to avoid with me'. You don't need to draw the line between your experiences and the trigger you have now.

Wrapped up a three-year arc that I had with my main character as my main game closed. It was bittersweet, for while I got to do a lot with him I still wanted to do more. I easily could have done enough plots to last him another year. The two games he was in were some of the best I've ever been in during my fifteen years in RP.

Joined a game out of my usual wheelhouse and have been having TONS of fun in it! So glad I felt FOMO and just had to see what I was missing out on. I've gained a lot of fun new people on Plurk from it as well who are all super nice and hope in time I'll become friends with them all!

Joined a new game in the vein of my home game after it closed with a character almost on a whim and it turns out it was a great decision. It's small and slow but that's what my old ass needs right now. I've had to learn several times the hard way I'm not eighteen anymore and can't stay up all night RPing no matter how fun it is. Adulthood takes responsibility.

Been carrying on two long-term PSLs with my oldest RP friend for a year or two now. I'd like to get a specific idea off the ground but anytime I've looked for some RP partners for it, it never gets past the planning stage.

Overall, a little sad, a little happy, but fun all the way through. As RP should be!
