I wish I was cool enough to receive invites to games

really starting to think who you play matters more than how you play. maybe if i was into popular fandoms i wouldnt get skipped over so much.

the reality is that both matter and it's a nuanced thing

naw it isn't. neither matter honestly. join a game with your friends and you've got instant cr. it won't matter how far apart your canons are because you'll be willing to find a way to make it work. but join a game knowing no one and you'll always play second fiddle.

i picked my rp friends up at the corner store and definitely didn't meet them through shared interest or canons, often a popular one

it matters for initial cr/people who don't know you ooc
but you're absolutely guaranteed more interest generally if you play a character that's popular ooc

in hindsight i think this tag might be too harsh and want to edit it :(

my favorite thread probably isn't my thread partner's favorite thread. i'm finally starting to accept that no matter how good i try to make my tags, that's probably not going to change for them.

i don't play from anything popular but i've got a wealth of cr because i would approach people for threads, our rp styles clicked, and now i have a solid circle of people to write with despite few people knowing the canons i play from. be proactive and you'll get cr

nonnies, especially those with adhd or time management issues,
how do you find and set aside time to rp? i'm really making a concentrated effort to preserve time for my hobbies and not just the things i HAVE to do, but i have commitments before and after work, and i work full time. usually i have 4-5 hours tops (assuming i'm going to bed at the time i should be) of free time when i get home from work. i'm not really able to get much housework done when i get home because i'm just so fried, and i also mod a game.

but i really want to set aside time to do something for me and my hobbies, and i think my emotional wellbeing is better when i have time to rp or time to do anything for myself, really. i'm just not good at sticking with schedules etc.

are there organizers for keeping track of what you need to tag back, things you make or do, etc? any advice at all on how to set aside time for writing etc would be really helpful. thank you.

if you don't count modding as a hobby, why do you do it?

I think I need to go on break from this friendship. They haven't done anything, I'm just feeling burned out from doing all the reaching out lately and getting little conversation anymore.

i do, but for whatever reason it's a lot easier for me to set aside time for modding than it is for me to set aside time for personal rping which is more what i'm struggling with. i feel like modding is a really concrete commitment to a large group of people so it's priority 1 and i'm trying to get better at finding ways to include some priority 2 things in my life in addition to my really solid must-do commitments.

this is a pretty Known adhd thing. you have an easier time focusing on anything that you feel will have consequences if you dont follow through, like letting your playerbase down. in cases like that, people with adhd can focus pretty well, because we feel we need to

letting your tags go doesnt carry the same sort of consequences in your perspective, probably because its just you and maybe the other person youre threading with, so you let that slip

I assumed as much in the beginning, but this has gone on for too long to be seasonal.

most invite games allow invite requests from mods, and if you play on the tdm and someone in-game tags you, chances are high they can send an invite your way! you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, anon!

da, but this anon's got it right. if you don't have a popular canon on your side, you have to work a little harder by tagging out, talking to other players on cr memes, and tagging their characters again in the future to build on cr over at least a few months. some of my favorite cr, including cross-canon ships, happened because obscure characters tagged my popular one.
