Mostly A. Generally speaking I work under the assumption that the conversation for as much kink etc negotiation was needed was handwaved because I personally find them kinda tedious after a while. That said every now and then I have been in situations where some key CR hadn't really happened yet (related to your example, a threesome) so we decided to fold the negotiation for that into the start of the scene. I think "is there any part of the negotiation that you absolutely want to take place ICly?" is kind of part of ooc negotiations too though.

op didn't specify they wanted characters from stuff other than "recognisable canons that are still in fairly recent memory", nor did they say why they didn't go with citrinne fire emblem, so i'm kind of confused by your reply. earnestly: is it somehow a given that you're not supposed to suggest characters someone might recognise? if so, wouldn't op have been better off just browsing zerochan or pixiv for random one-off characters who fit their criteria?

fair enough. in that case i agree with the suggestion by the anon above me to use fanart, since there should be plenty of it for all these characters but it will probably not make them as instantly recognisable as official art would

sadly, sims has cornered the market there. the closest alternative imo is emulating ac: happy home designer on 3ds (or its equivalent for AC:NH on switch) and using save editors to hack past as much gameplay as you can to get to the house designing, but that's more work than just freebuilding on sims 4.

there's upcoming games that are sims alternatives, "life by you" and the more recent "inZOI", but based on the gameplay footage, they are both going to be crazy resource-intensive to run, and also have that ultra-chic trendy-designer-room aesthetic. "paralives" is another sims-like that's in development that has a nicer art style, but it has no release date.

School A, and I also want to get the basics figured out and get down to business relatively quickly while there's still room for some spontaneity (within reason). My experience is the longer that is spent planning out all the details, the less likely the other player will actually finish the scene.

I've only run into something like School B on f-list with people who were trying to roleplay self-inserts that they were really precious about, which tends to make the experience uncomfortable for a variety of reasons beyond this as well.

I'd be fine with roleplaying an in-character negotiation of needs and boundaries and such, but it seems like most people find it tedious and uninteresting and just want to get to the fucking so I'm usually trying to match that energy. I'd need to be told that is not what is wanted/expected in order to adjust pace.

I think it depends on what kind of sex is happening. There are a lot of times IC my character seduces another and we don't have any OOC conversation at all because the kink is either very low or it's just straight up non-kink sex. So I go with the flow. I only talk about it OOC if it's something heavier/more complicated.

I personally find it fun to have it IC where people are talking about what they want to do to each other and the other one reacting to the idea. I don't think it's boring for the characters to have the conversation, I consider it part of foreplay/sexy talk.
