i assume best intentions, but also generally wait for them to come to me unless i really liked the cr and/or have a very good idea to bring to them. life's too short to chase after some of the people in this scene.

as other anons have pretty much said, there's a difference between plain headcanon and inferences based on the info available from canon. here's an example:

aaron is king and tristan is his lieutenant. they grew up together.
canon shows flashbacks of them being at training together, fighting together, or being at camp preparing for battle.
a reasonable inference would be that they also spend a lot of time together outside of these activities, like meeting in a war room, attending diplomatic galas, etc. which the player can expand upon in as little or as much detail as they prefer.
headcanon would be that one time they went to the palace kitchen and tristan taught aaron how to cook tristan's mom's butternut squash soup in order to cheer aaron up because his dog died.

at least that's how i view it.

Maybe they go to a town over and spend the day in public playing up a mommy and daughter act while groping/fingering each other. One of them has a remote-operated toy inside them while the other teases her, etc.

depends on what the thread was about, and if i see them still tagging in other easily visible threads (i'm not going to look their activity up but if it was in an event post or whatever). usually i'll just move on and not bother with them again unless they reach out, but i might follow up in a cr meme if the thread they dropped had something unresolved in it that i was interested in, or if our characters have significant overlapping cr, etcetera.

if they drop all the threads on their post, including mine: i assume they hit an unexpected bad patch and give them another chance next time they post something.

if they drop most of the threads on their post, including mine, but have a couple that they keep up with and thread to completion: i assume they already have their preferred CR picked out and don’t plan on trying to get anything deep with them, but i won’t go out of my way to avoid tagging them if they post something my character would respond to.

if they drop my thread after just a few comments and keep up with all or most of the others to completion or at least a decent length: unless i’m given reasons to think otherwise, i assume they aren’t interested in CR with my character and i make a point of not tagging them in the future, but if they tag me or reach out to me later on i don’t ignore them and am happy to reconsider my assumption. maybe they just weren’t feeling that first thread.

Shit happens, I drop threads I was loving all the time by accident/life circumstances. I do keep an eye on it though and if it becomes a pattern of it happening all the time several times, I let it go and stop trying to get that cr. I'll still happily thread if they tag me first, but I don't initiate anymore.

I like the connecting dots vs. making some of the dots framing.

To me, the line is "is this something that any non-AU version of this character has to include" or "is this something on which players could reasonably disagree."

So if the character is shown grieving at their mother's grave, "their mother is dead" is canon. If details aren't given, one player might headcanon it was due to cancer and another a car accident. Any specifics would be headcanon, because the only actual canon detail is that she's dead.

how many of you enjoy playing out negative cr and why? it's never been my preference but i seem to draw in the occasional new person that tries to start off an interaction with it and it makes me wonder if it's just a popular thing in general or maybe it's the character types i tend to play. they're not villains btw where i would expect some negative cr, and i do communicate with the writer to let them know i'm not into it.

What do the players do? Are their characters aggressive when it doesn't make sense for them to be? Do they invent reasons to be mean to your character? And do you have no negative cr listed in your prefs?
