Hey, neighbor, welcome to the very first TDM for Silent Spring, a semiprivate suburban 60s horrorgame based loosely on the likes of We're Still Here, Holly Heights, and similar. Characters wake up in the uncannily idyllic early 1960s suburbia of Sweetwater, Maryland, an integrated bedroom community of Washington, DC - in the same household as a complete stranger to whom they have apparently always been married, at least according to the eerily and unwaveringly chipper neighbors who seem to know a little more than they should. This TDM will give you a place to test out the setting and get some sample threads if you're going to apply for an invite. It and invite requests (when they open) are open to the general public with a minimum of 20 invites set aside for requests, so come on in and enjoy some holiday ~~fear~~ cheer with your new neighbors!

In the case you give unless there was additional information left out I'd assume it was "not explicitly stated canon" to assume they were the kid's married parents and headcanon to assume anything else. The lines are blurry and it mostly comes down to "can a reasonable person infer this is what the author was going for even if the character does not look at the camera and state something about themself for fact".

This isn't about whether a headcanon is good or bad it's a question of when does it become a headcanon.

I tried to answer OP but I can't think of popular dwrp canon where there was any genuine ambiguity over something. Something that is technically left to implication can still have an obvious intended answer, if that makes any sense. I have a terrible memory so I'm probably just forgetting something.

I spend so much time worrying over how appropriate a match my character is for someone I'm tagging out to, but just going "fuck it" and tossing in a pretty off the wall match has quickly become a favorite thread. Me @ me do this more often.

the example you listed is so heavy-handed that i think it would be absurd to label the assumption of "biological parents who are married" as headcanon, personally.

i don't think drawing lines between dots is necessarily headcanon at all. in my opinion, headcanon is when you have to make some of the dots, too. becky is open to talking about her father, who she loves a lot, but doesn't mention her mother and changes the subject when asked. in one episode, we see her standing in a graveyard looking at a headstone for a woman with her last name, that reads "beloved wife and mother". her expression is bitter. it's not headcanon to assume that becky's mother is dead. it's headcanon to assume that becky's mother once sold becky into slavery as a child and then becky murdered her in revenge and that's why she's uncomfortable about the subject.

DA- your example made me lol because I used to game with someone who would constantly do that.

I guess "obvious intent" is my answer. Made up example but if a character lives in Britain nobody would consider it a HC that he is British. It would be a headcanon that he moved to Britain from Austrailia ten years ago to finish his PhD in Oxford, or that his parents are immigrants. Neither would really affect the character's present life but it's not purely the author's intent either.

I think it's a case of "does the line of thought actually make sense, or do you have to do ten sommersaults and stand on your head to get there?"

Using the first thing to come to sight, Willow, as an example I could easily believe:

- That Kiaya and Willow met as children, or at least very young
- That Kiaya always thought Willow was the person she wanted to be with all her life
- That Willow sees himself as not good enough for her and often frets about what he can do to make sure she stays

What I couldn't see:

- Willow was the town player and has slept with every girl in town
- That either of them are controlling

One line of thought makes sense when given everything we see (Kiaya and Willow obviously have been together a long time, he's not always sure of himself but she is) where the other makes no sense (he pretty much implies to Madmartigan that his constant sleeping around is not really what makes a man a man, even at his angriest Willow is afraid to hurt someone)

hypothetically, there is a gunslinger.

the gunslinger is consoling a new recruit who fired their first lethal shot. the gunslinger relates that their first kill took a toll on them too. the gunslinger then starts talking about how their work becomes normalized and gives some advice on reaching that point. even though it isn't explicitly stated that the gunslinger shot their first victim, canon doesn't give you any reason to doubt it. this is not headcanon.

however, say the gunslinger has a backstory where they were an orphan who had to figure out how to survive in a brutal environment. there is one scene where the gunslinger has issues using a hunting knife to kill an aggressive animal. the gunslinger also carries a lot of guilt over something that they did while they were on the streets, but it's never said what happened. you could knit those things together to say that the gunslinger's first kill was with a hunting knife while they were still a child. this is headcanon because though it's logical, it's still speculative.

If you're interested in writing a queer male character who is degraded, dominated and feminized in a fantasy-adventure, please keep reading.

For a while now, I've been thinking about writing a longer PSL where the protagonist Character A (m) is transported from his world to a realm where all manners of fantasy creatures have an insatiable desire for him, because (you guessed it) the energy extracted from orgasms is the source of the world's magic. Along the way, he meets a nymph named Eros - a being from this new world who becomes his companion on a journey filled with encounters with everything from futa druids to naughty tentacle-vine trees looking for a hole (read: his) to pollinate.

I'd prefer writing tops and doms, the nymph, the futa, and characters who are in control. Ideally, you'd be willing to write more than the protagonist at times, too, for group sex, or scenes involving 3+ characters. The goal is to collaborate and build a story we're both crazy about. I'm not picky about writing style or skill, but I am looking for an engaging RP partner! I have several scenes in mind, though hopefully you'd be willing to write more, and also have ideas of your own.

Act (1): The nymph encounters Character A and entices him to follow them into a wooded area. He believes the nymph is going to let him get his dick wet, but instead, he's lead straight into the grasp of a tentacle vine tree eager to pollinate at the start of its season. This also marks the start of Character A's quest to find a way back home.

Act (2): Eros brings A to a woman they refer to as "The Thornmistress" assuring A that she has a solution for his return home. But Thornmistress is actually a powerful futa druidess presiding over a settlement with other futas. They keep slaves of various magical races, and several humans who have been transported to this magical realm. Character A becomes a sex slave in this village for some time.

Act (3): This is where the transformation begins. I have a concept for how the druid magic/rituals can feminize Character A, causing changes in their physical makeup. They develop a vagina, breasts and stronger curves to their body. But this post is already long enough, so let's discuss further in DMs if interested.

In tone, this RP would draw inspiration from games like BG3, embracing its quirkiness and not taking itself too seriously but still allowing for immersion in the story.

My hard limits / no-goes: scat, bestiality, underage

Do not apply if you're shy about writing highly explicit and detailed smut. RP partner must be 21+ and preferably girl/nb, because I've had some less than stellar experiences writing with men, sorry. :( Thanks for reading tho!

I think your connecting dots vs creating new dots example is a good one. When you have to create something, it's headcanon.
