i haven't actually decided yet! up until a few hours ago i was still on the fence about even starting to rp on here, HAHA. but i think once i finally bite the bullet, chances are i'll go with someone from a video game (i have final fantasy brain, but i'm also considering some nier charas) or some animanga (recently been into dungeon meshi and chainsaw man, would love to rp some berserk or monster but i don't think i have the skills to pull it off HAH)

no, but there's a very good chance the people who stopped being around were from america, moron

welcome!! especially if you're upfront that you're new, most people will be infinitely happy to answer questions and so on. there is also definitely some room for differences - for example, most of the time on memes you'll see people [ rping in brackets, ] but plenty of people do regular ol' novel-style prose/past tense, too.

when you're setting up your journal, a super useful thing to do is poke around other people's journals and check out their info/permissions posts; it'll help you get a feel for what people prioritize here.

Welcome! I was new a few years back so I know it can be a lot at first, but you'll fit in soon enough. Also if you ever have questions as you're going, ask people you're interacting with.

1. Games, memes, PSLs (private storylines) are generally the way it is yeah. The best way to get 1-on-1 PSLs is by tagging people on memes and then after the thread is going really well ask them if they'd like to do more. EMP is a good place and also tagging out a lot.

2. I mentioned private storylines above. Tagging out, since we're talking about that, is when you go around and tag other people's top levels. It honestly is one of the better ways to use meme comms in my opinion, because that's how you get a lot of bites. Musebox is generally where you list all the characters you play and you can post entries for your PSLs there. Open post is an entry where anyone can tag in and play with you. CR is character relationships, the blood and sweat of RPing, the bonds that your character makes with other characters.

3. I did come from journal RP so I had some experience with the format. I do think the expectation is mostly to blend in. It depends on what habits you're talking about. Like I said above I have only had good experiences with being new and telling people I am and having them willing to walk me through it. I'm not saying everyone on dwrp can be trusted but there is definitely space for new folks.

really in the mood to write a hero getting topped by a villain. would love something with an age gap - the hero being younger and relatively inexperience, the villainess being older and powerful, etc. open on kinks, but some favorites include orgasm denial, aphrodisiacs, pegging, and superpowers used in sex (fucking in the air, mind control, pheromones, etc).

hello! the other anons have already answered you well, i just wanted to pop in as a fellow journal-rp newbie to welcome you aboard c: ime, people are really understanding about newness; personal example, in retrospect i think i fumbled some of my early threads, but i've since had some great play since with the same people. it's like someone else said- people mostly just want tags!

big +1 to the anon who suggested looking at permissions posts, too. i found that that, and reading other people's threads, helped me get a decent feel for how things tend to work around here. otherwise, tag around, don't be afraid to reach out, and hope you have fun!
