three different people have ghosted me on psl threads in the last couple of weeks. starting to think i'm the common denominator, here. :

thanksgiving happened...

And it's over now and not every country is ~america~

not all, but definitely a large chunk of the people who frequent dwrp live in the usa, so it's probable that plenty of regulars normally around and available have had a busy week with visitors. don't know why you feel the need to get the ~tildes~ out about it, thanksgiving/christmas is notoriously a slow time for dwrp.

one of my favorite threads with one of my top most favorite cr is drawing closer to its end, and on a positive note, i'm thankful it continued with consistency. i haven't been able to efficiently wrap up a thread to a proper ending in years and years.

i'm becoming worried this will be the last time i get to thread with them as i've initiated threads every single time… and doing so or having to keep doing so absolutely fills me with anxiety that i'm actually just a pest. and i know if they didn't want to they wouldn't have to tag me back, but i still worry it's out of some polite obligatory feeling or something. plus it just feels like there's mutual investment when people reach out to you too.

condolences, anon. went through a very similar thing. i could feel their interest in the dynamic dry up almost the instant we wrapped our main thread, which is fair! the thread had a great emotional arc and giving it a proper send off was a lot more than i expect from my threads.

i reached out to plot something different out between the characters but it fizzled on their end. it's a big bummer, but i'm trying to be very "we'll always have paris" about it.

looking for some crime mysteries/thrillers with an emotional punch. movies or tv is fine, but i'm watching with my mother so it has to be live action and in english for her (though a dub is fine, she enjoyed dark) and it can't be a multi-season slog to reach the payoff. we have watched sharp objects, fargo, luther, dark, and true detective together already. i'm running out of ideas!!

it's not all out yet but i just started watching 'murder at the end of the world' on hulu and i've really been enjoying it. a good thriller, murder mystery, tech sleuth, nonlinear story.

i can think of like 10 anime girls like that tbh

the first season of the perry mason reboot (haven't seen the second yet) and under the banner of heaven are pretty good imo, if slow but if you were fine with true detective's pace you'll be alright. for movies, prisoners is great but really heavy. check up on whether or not the themes are your jam because you're watching it with your mom but the movie Good Time also fits into what you want, i think!

i think if they've been tagging you back consistently and putting the same effort into the tags, they aren't doing it solely out of obligation. people will drop off or start giving lackluster responses usually if the tagging feels like work or they've lost interest. so maybe they're just not the initiating type, but they're still into it? i can't really say for certain.

for me personally, if i was the only one prompting for new threads and throwing out ideas, after a while i'd probably feel less enthused overall and take the "at least we had paris" outlook the other anon mentioned. it just feels better when there is mutual investment and reaching out, like you said.

I don't think she'd work for the character I have in mind, that inspired my comment, but thank you for the suggestion! It actually helped firm up some things for a different character.

she is closer to what I had in mind, although probably too recognizable a face. And this is the one time where I'd prefer modern clothing.

In the ancient times of MSN Messenger nudges and *glomp*, I tagged a witch OC named Ilsa. Found and read the threads I saved and wasn't expecting the factory of plot bunnies, but it's been so long since I've roleplayed writing is weirdly difficult. PMed a thanks to that character's account a while ago and not sure what's sensible to do, if anything...there was so much, especially of Ilsa, unexplored. Regardless, wish I'd realized half what I have today then - you're a great writer and fun to bounce off of. Never knew where I'd land.

tbh there would be a lot less disappointment and time wastage for everyone if people learned to recognize their limits and not make plans they can't or won't follow through.

in a similar situation with op where various players have initiated psl plotting with me or were enthusiastic when i responded to their ads, and after the initial few comments/pms they go silent for days then are like "oops rl happened!" "sorry my mental health isn't good for this right now" "sorry not feeling this anymore" etc etc

and of course it's a bummer when they were the one who wanted to do a thread in the first place, but you have to paste a smile on and be understanding.
