-the executioner and her way of life is a yuri action/fantasy series. it has 4 main girls who are queer and the mc kills a dude in episode 1.

-mari from samurai flamenco is a bi girl who beats up men and steps on their dicks.

-manaria from i'm in love with the villainess is a princely playgirl lesbian. the main character, rae, is also a lesbian who has no time for men (or really anything but the girl she's into).

Hey guys, thank you so muchly for all the insight! And the clarification on where my preferences might fall and how the categories work. I really appreciate breaking down the elements and potential player expectations (and game examples!) too.

I'm thinking that I can vibe with spooky fantasy pretty well. I'll try classifying this idea as either spooky or dark fantasy. Possibly with a couple of content warnings (TFs, weird scenery, mild body horror, weird metal corpses that occasionally explode into monsters, etc) attached to prompts or listed in the game info as a safeguard.

You forgot the part where people wanted the leads to get together because they were voiced by Tamura Yukari and Mizuki Nana, and then had shitfits when the female MC got with a male love interest they didn't like

I didn't get past the first bit of the show because the characters were pretty lame or edgy to me but I remember seeing a lot of probably unfounded anger from viewers hungering for their Nanoha/Fate substitute and reality not matching their expectations

looking for a woman in her mid-to-late 20s, with a softer face and long blonde or red hair. i'd like it if she wore her hair up more often, in something kind of messy, but that's unimportant.
looks kind of nerdy/bookish, ideally wearing glasses, but I can work with it if she doesn't have glasses.

if it hits exactly what i'm looking for in a game for a particular character. sometimes i see an ad for a new game and immediately go, "oh, that would be perfect for X." the last time i did that, my hunch ended up being exactly right and i had an absolute blast in the game with that character.

i've dropped from more than one established game after apping in and seeing a ton of closed logs/toplevels. it made it feel like a large portion of the game wasn't interested in any new cr, which felt very unwelcoming as a new player.

new games don't tend to have that problem.

i know of a lot of people who read fade rift, tbh. most of us are too intimidated to join it but it's so good to read

how many anons here have revived real old threads they had with strangers in psls or memes or whatever

did you just bite the bullet and tag it back, or did you contact the other person first to see if they're still interested? what's been the success rate in your experience?

i've got a few threads that are a month to two months old where i hit a weird writing block and/or life happened and i never ended up getting around to tagging back. i'm finally in a better headspace to pick them back up, but i'm so embarrassed by how long it's been....

pardon the psl journal i have no sock account and didn't feel like making one but i have been encouraged to park my perpetually underpaid self here and say any points to this journal would be forever appreciated!

I've tagged back a year old meme thread without warning. Apologized in a small ooc comment, said no hard feelings if they wanted to drop, and just tagged. They responded with a welcome back, and we got on with the thread. It went on for another 60 or so comments before we hit a stopping point.

I also just recently replied to three month old comments and no one responded (but it's also been like 4 days). So I guess my success rate is 25%.

I've tagged things that were several years old on whims.

Most of them got tagged back, especially by those who knew I'd been going through a divorce and some other shit, but even some total strangers tagged back.

PSLers are forever patient and understanding individuals more often than not.

I've always pm-ed the other player if I see that it's been a long time since their last tag and it doesn't line up with my experience of our tagging pace before that. So if we're doing 1-2 tags a day or boomeranging and then nothing happens for like a week, I will check in but try not to put pressure on them. If the thread still has space to grow, usually I get a tag back, maybe with a "sorry for the delay" note. Sometimes they don't reply to my pms or my last tag, and that's fine, I expected that going in and getting a reply after a long gap is a pleasant surprise.

The only times I haven't tagged back if the other player already took weeks and months between tags as it were and I kept having to reread what we wrote earlier on to refresh my memory, because the momentum wouldn't last.

I do think it is more on the person who should be writing the latest tag to follow up, instead of the one waiting for a reply, so I often wonder whether the players who drop our psl threads felt like they were being hounded for tags despite my efforts to keep it casual.
