Character is between 30 and 50 throughout canon, male, white-passing (mostly; he's half Cherokee and half white and doesn't always pass, so it's not entirely clear what skin tone he has canonically), black hair (though later books do note he's got grey coming in), black eyes, is clean-shaven and has a resting serious face. Mention is made in a lot of descriptors of him of having a challenging look he gives people, a dominating demeanor and a smile that's accompanied by his eyes 'glittering with cruel laughter' when insulted/demeaned by others, to give you a sense of the energy the character evokes, if that helps any names come to mind.

A and B are college age, or recent college graduate, girlfriends. (late teens or early 20s). They have a very good relationship though as of late haven't really been sexually active. They wind up moving in temporarily with A's family, either for summer break or for some other reason.

That's when B meets C, A's younger sister (mid teens-ish feels right for this, but I'm flexible). C is sexually aggressive and winds up seducing B, convincing her to sneak around and avoid her girlfriend/C's sister.

Optional: It turns out that C and A had an incestuous relationship in the past (a "who do you think she practiced eating pussy on" type deal), and when A learns out that her sister and girlfriend are fucking, she's only upset because she wasn't invited. Therefore, threesome ensues.

I'm finally playing my fave character in a game and I have a ton of amazing cross-canon CR and it's so fun.

Why is this in woes? I have a castmate who is very absent. We were in a different game together with different non-castmate characters and they tagged me back exactly twice despite a lot of promises and enthusiasm; other friends have mentioned they also have had their threads dropped after one or two tags; they apologize on plurk for psl tags that are a year old; now our first castmate thread has been dropped after two tags.

It's fine, I can get away with just kind of ignoring them. But now they're talking about inviting their IRL partner to app into the cast as my character's love interest. Said partner was also in the last game and was also constantly scrambling for AC and dropping tags, begging for end of month comments and usually only getting them from (my canonmate/their partner).

If they're both in the game together they can probably continue to squeak each other past AC, and having my character's most important person present but unplayed is going to make my rp-life really difficult, probably cause my character to scale back some shippy CR and potentially make it hard to do a player plot I had planned.

I've spoken to my castmate about their tag speed in the past and all that changed is that they pp me every week they don't do tags with a list of all the big life stuff that is overwhelming them - loss and surgeries and animal crises and chronic illness and work crunch. Obviously I am not going to tell them tagging me is more important than IRL, but if you only have one or two days a month, every month all year, when you can fit in RP, why be in a game? (Why be in three games?)

Anyway I am just frustrated and don't know how to set and enforce boundaries when my attempts so far have failed, and I don't want to get a reputation for being cliquey, and the game is way too fun to drop! Any advice would be welcome, I've never had to deal with this situation before (aside from that college feel where you just suck it up and do the group project alone for the grade.)

The social element, the unpredictability. A good partner can surprise and delight me as the story twists and turns, and there’s great company to be found here in general. I really enjoy writing fic, in many ways more than RP on a technical writing front, but it can be tough to carry that torch alone, especially if you don’t get much (or any) response to it.

realistically, how hard would it be for one person to manage an invite-only game?

i have several ideas i would love to try and put into motion, but i have no friends interested in modding, nor do i desire to mod a significantly big game. i'm curious to see how much of a bad idea it would be to try and do everything as an one-man mod team.

It's doable if you keep your game very small and make it clear upfront it's a one-person operation. About 5-10 people seems about the number without being too much.
