Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.

i think it’s great that you’ve been working on your diet and eating more vegetables. regarding other dietary choices, the key to happiness is avoiding processed foods as much as possible and doing your own cooking. look up “mediterranean diet,” which is a highly palatable way of eating that you can sustain for life.

on sugar: i don’t think you need to avoid adding, for instance, a teaspoon of sugar to your morning coffee. you do need to avoid sugar sweetened sodas which can contain something like 20 teaspoons of sugar. likewise a tablespoon or two of cream or half&half in your coffee is also not that bad for you, in terms of total amount of saturated fat. coffee is full of antioxidants and has health benefits when drunk in moderation. tea is also good for you, you can try green tea, oolong, or black tea to see what you like best.

at starbucks with your friends, order a tall, iced cafe latte (~100 calories) and add a packet of sugar (16 calories) to it; this is still substantially less sugar and calories than in most starbucks drinks.

when you go out, try drinking mineral water or club soda. ask the bartender or waitstaff to serve it in a glass with a lime or lemon twist. it’s pretty and feels super bougie.

sweet mixed alcoholic drinks are calorie and sugar bombs. if you do drink, you’re actually better off with a glass of champagne than wine (the glass holds less volume). also alcohol impairs judgment, so most people eat more when they drink.

i would also recommend that you avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible (unless you already have diabetes). there is no evidence they have health benefits and they may even contribute to metabolic derangements (aka “metabolic syndrome”).
