+1 to both these points. also big agree that goodwill communication with fellow players goes a long, long way to making life easier for everyone involved when it comes to bouncing this character type off others
like rn i'm playing a guy who's smart as hell and pretty perceptive to the point of catching on to many surprise plot points way earlier than his fellow party members in canon. but im ready to fully disclose ooc that my brain is often a yam and even on my best days im just not gonna be half as smart as this mfer lmao
if you're midway through a thread and feeling like your character should be picking up what the other's subtly dropping but aren't actually sure you have it right, there's no shame at all in just touching base ooc to be like "hey so i'm thinking my guy should be able to pick up on this but i'm not quite clear on it myself ooc / here's what i think it is, or am i totally off? / would you be ok with him figuring this out like this?" etc etc
