Abridged series versions, very swiftly become tired outside of their context. They exist for very specific purposes of poking fun at foibles of a canon they are no longer operating in. Their observations and actions don't translate well. Parodies with some life of their own (e.g. Austin Powers. Enchanted, Disgaea) are usually fine, though.
