Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

if i tag a person once in a meme and then immediately stop, one or more of the following happened:

1. i'm not feeling it from your single tag back and don't need further tags to confirm. since you mentioned ocs, i've tagged a few ocs with a cool concept and they tag me back and are as flat as cardboard: i don't need to tag them more times to confirm that they're cardboard.

2. something happened offline and by the time i take care of that i forgot about our 2 tag long thread.

i'm not the most confident person, but i def can say i don't aim for cardboard and have few muses for a reason. aka i can only focus on a few at a time and tend to go long game with aiming to give my best (which i get is subjective). if something happened offline, backtagging is chill for me. it has happened with canon characters most of all since i rarely play ocs.

honestly, if it doesn't vibe it doesn't. but one tag isn't giving someone a proper opportunity, in my personal opinion.

i just assume they're a flaky ass so i try not to expect anything until the thread is substantially long

some rpers just have the attention span of a goldfish and in memes that attention span is even lower somehow

>but one tag isn't giving someone a proper opportunity, in my personal opinion.

so you want people to force themselves to tag something they aren't feeling? that only makes things worse

look i don't deny there are plenty of flakes around but please i beg you, don't encourage pity tags. it's one of the many things that influence lower activity, people feel obliged to reply to every tag they get and kills the mood

including the person who's decided they're not feeling it from a single tag

if you put the onus on everybody else to maintain your own rp experience, youre setting yourself up for a bad time

if you care that much that youre thinking about that dropped thread days later, just reach out and ask yourself

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-27 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
imo this is a bad argument on both sides. i think thats all people are trying to say here

like, nobody owes you an explanation for why they dropped a thread but ime if you reach out and ask, people will say they got busy but wanna continue, really! and tag for a bit before dropping it again

sometimes people are flakes and say things they dont mean

idk what to tell you, this is literally just a fact of life and dealing with people

from my experience, if they like how the thread started then 2 usually is accompanied by a pm. if not, it was probably also 1.

(Anonymous) 2022-04-27 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
how do you "forget" about a thread? what do you do with your notifs?

(Anonymous) 2022-04-27 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
da

... delete them? loads of people have different thread management techniques. not all of them are great. i like a clean inbox for dw because that number up in the corner makes me feel like i have stuff waiting. so i'll delete those or mark a subfolder read if it's pms. for email, i label and delete after i've responded, but it's possible that a) i thought i replied and closed it before it sent, or b) didn't get the notif because dw is still occasionally hinky. i don't always check the read comments page unless i've gone a day or two with no new notifs. i also have a lot going on in memes, so i might not always remember unless it's something i'm really eager for.

yes genius i also delete them, but AFTER responding, which anon i replied to obviously didn't

how about you slow your hyperaggressive roll there, jabroni. it's entirely possible, as i pointed out, that you could hit post comment, close the page, and not have it sent properly. or not receive the notif. or close the page thinking you sent it.

there's a bunch of legitimate 'i forgot' reasons that aren't 'you're poop on the bottom of my shoe'. you asked, i gave some answers. don't get mad at me about it.

Re: ayrt

(Anonymous) 2022-04-28 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
uh pls it is actually really easy to delete them? sometimes i open the thread, delete the notif, and go to respond but something happens (rl, need to think more about the tag mid-writing and end up doing something else, cant think of how to start and stare for 20 minutes, just outright getting distracted, etc.) and forget about it

sometimes i am looking at my phone in the middle of the night before bed and open a notif, then it gets buried by random shit and gets purged with the spam

shit happens

da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-28 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
agree on the rest but why would you delete a notif before responding to it

dda

(Anonymous) 2022-04-28 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've done this and it's usually because I'm already working on it, in my mind it's as good as done

but then stuff happens and now this tag i was working on didn't get through but in my mind i already did it

goodbye tag you were wronged

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-04-28 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
usually because i actually have opened it to respond to it but then i second-guess my tag or decide that whatever is coming out doesn't feel right so i'll come back to it later and then forget about it

what the above anons said

if i’m trying to respond to it that minute it makes sense in my mind to delete then and there. it’s more natural for me than remembering to come back immediately after writing a tag, especially since sometimes i take an hour to respond. honestly i have had more issues where i don’t remember deleting a notif AFTER tagging and see one in my inbox, delete it, then find out days later it was a new tag and not the old one like i thought

that said i usually don’t forget and usually don’t lose tags but “usually” isn’t “always”

i did however take a look at my inbox layout this morning and have swapped it to prioritize important mail so things no longer get buried

dw is notoriously bad about not always sending notifs, and if i have a whole lot of threads going at once, i'm not necessarily going to go checking every single thread to see whether or not the other person actually tagged it back. sometimes if i realize that i was tagging bobby and i never got a tag back from bobby that i can recall, i'll go check the thread. otherwise i tend to assume that it got dropped on the other end because that is a thing that does happen.
