Does threadjacking mean something different than an old as dirt person like myself knows of? It used to mean, iirc, that a person tagged into the middle of other people's ongoing threads and redirected, joined in without invitation or derailed that thread.

You can tag anyone and be spontaneous but if I have a thread going with someone and you drop into that and disrupt it, yeah I won't be happy.

But if you mean just tagging into someone's TL and running with it before knowing them I have never known that to be threadjacking before.

yeah that's what I mean, tagging into someone else's response to you (for instance) usually on things like public or network posts where they function more like a reddit post or something than a private text conversation

not jumping into the middle of a scene though that's weird unless you've asked

a lot of people aren't fond of threadjacking on network posts because often those conversations go so far off the rails they don't even involve the OP anymore (especially with "private" filters) and you get spammed with every irrelevant notif unless you turn them entirely off

i have 'no threadjacking please' in my permissions for this reason and i know i'm not the only one, i don't really miss that kind of RP at all
