anons, i finally changed my phone to something modern that runs shit, so rec me some games!

-i don't mind ads
-IAP i'm wary of but willing to give it a look. people always swear you can play without playing anything but i've tried many of the most popular games and it's a lie, there comes a moment where the grind is unbearable.
-for the record, this doesn't mean i'm not willing to put down money, but if i pay is once for the game price, not microtransactions
-no gacha, not at all, don't even try, idc if yours "isn't so bad actually"

Teamfight Tactics.
1) Entirely PVP so no grind
2) Gacha is entirely cosmetics

It's not a canon you're likely to play from or anything, unless playing a bunch of games set in Runeterra leads you towards Arcane.

Otherwise Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is on mobile.

i'm scrolling through the app store now for notable titles and i feel like your best bets are going to be older games that they ported to mobile. things like chrono trigger, final fantasy (tactics in particular was one of my favorites but i don't remember how grindy it is, sorry!), ghost trick (iphone only), etc.

there's also FANTASIAN which i think is coming out in parts...? another iphone only game and it requires an apple games sub (its about $5 for the month and you can cancel it after, there might be a trial too). a friend of mine who played it enjoyed it and said you can like... queue?? queue or save the battles to do later so it doesn't sound very grindy

this game called "alter ego" looks really promising but it looks like it has in-app purchases. i'll give it a try and report back!

also seeing "oxenfree" which is free. it isn't strictly a mobile game and i think it's free on like steam too but i've heard good things about it! from that title you might be able to find similar games too

hmm jury is still out on alter ego. seems like its $25USD or so altogether for the in-app purchases, $9USD of which is like. qol like ad removal and increasing the amount of points you get per click/while idling. rest is additional post-game conversations but the existing ones are so short i can't imagine the paid ones are worth it

it's a clicker game, currency will add up even while not using the app so you could dl it and forget about it ig and see how many points you rack up but like cookie clicker if you buy upgrades then you get them faster. i'd take the personality analysis with a grain of salt since the first ones already seemed like a miss for me, still fun to see what it comes up with tho and there's some kind of plot there

music is mellow, clicking is p mellow but not sure about the quotes they picked so far

I love Mini Metro right now. It's just connecting a bunch of little stops and arranging routes and trains to help deliver your passengers without clogging up your stations. It's stimulating but also strangely meditative? And no microtransactions.
