i play from both la/animu but i gotta side with the animus here. i've seen a LOT more snobbery from las towards animanga than vice versa. which isn't to say it never happens, but medium snobbery honestly is absurd when we're all playing from stupid shit, just different flavors.

bottom line, we're all just smashing barbies together. you have not ascended as a Mature Adult just because yours is "realer" than the rest.

oh yes, it happens more with LA, i don't deny that. and the explanation behind that is simple: like i said in another comment, most animation-only players still watch LA even if they aren't in the fandom, but the same doesn't work in reverse. it is just a question of numbers.

but saying the animation team doesn't do it at all would be incorrect, and i've gained the habit to add "yes both sides do it" to my comments because there's always some butthurt anon that comes with BUT THE OTHER SIDE DOES IT TOO so better safe than sorry

anyway this is why i'd app a LA to an animation-heavy game but i wouldn't app drawn icons to a LA heavy game

as someone that's strictly anime, it has nothing to do with being realer or more mature or anything like that. not for me, anyway. it all boils down to what i like versus what i don't. i don't like anime. i haven't seen/watched/read any that's been something i've enjoyed or want to play with/against. that said, it's not like i like all la, either. there's plenty of la that i flat out do not want to play against or with. i like what i'm familiar with, and that's what i'm snobby about. it's certainly not about feeling superior or better. it's about playing against what i like/what i want to play against. there's nothing moral or 'more mature adulty in the world of actual adults doing adult things that are above your paygrade' about it.

that might not (and probably isn't) the case for everyone, but it's always just burned my biscuit to see it generalized as if it's only about snobbery and maturity and not just because maybe some people don't like a thing and that's okay.

it's not helpful to continue to "side with the animus" when basically every comment in here is pointing out that anime players do the exact same thing. las simply are not worse. they are THE SAME. anime players just complain here more often because there are more anime players in dwrp, and because the water keeps getting muddied with people who play from books and whatever who get shit on by both sides in the crossfire.

if it's easier to get a la pb for your book/oc/whatever character than find a drawn one, and then you get tags from las and not from animes, what are people supposed to do? lol

it's been noted time and time again, by other la players even, that a decent chunk of la only folks really do think they're more evolved than the filthy anime masses because they perceive themselves as more mature due to playing from canons with real faces

no one is saying it NEVER happens with snooty anime players but trying to argue it's THE SAME is straight up delusional and false

a couple anons saying they're not into some magical girl anime and other anons flipping the fuck out about it for literally years is not the anti-anime conspiracy you all think it is

"it's childish and i prefer media aimed at adults" about princess tutu or whatever and having a breakdown about it because of the actually in fact very grown up and mature themes about princess tutu, being willfully obtuse about why someone would think that show (or whatever) would come off as childish, and then projecting the idea that the anons who don't like magical sailor dress rarara show are definitely rping from riverdale and are giant baby doo doo head hypocrites is just

real goofy of all of us

just tell us what single specific incident you're generalizing from and be done with it
