This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

bakerstreet is full of shippy memes because that's what most people want to play. post gen memes if you want to play them, but it's stupid to ignore the fact that the reason why popular memes are popular is because.. they're popular. that's all.

bakerstreet is full of shippy memes no one wants to play on, it's a bizarre lack of self awareness by some posters, who regurgitate the same unwanted memes onto the comm. i dont think the balance of preferences is as tipped towards shipping as people think, but it does look that way due to the number of ship memes, disregarding that many of them are empty.

that too. the people who post shippy memes just do a lot of them. if there was a gen meme poster who threw out gen memes with as much regularity as the niche shippy ones then the comm would have lots of those. probably also not getting tags either.

it would need to be six or seven gen meme posters with an intense fixation on a particular kind of gen meme, mostly as tiny variation on that theme as possible regularly

itd be like if you had a winter meme, a mid-winter meme, a powdery snow meme, a thick snow meme, a blizzard meme, a snowman making meme, a frosty meme, a hail meme, a flurry meme etc.

we did have that for a while with dousing posting like clockwork with mostly gen memes but anons constantly had fits about seeing the username too often so they stopped

people have to learn to tag in/tag out if they want play on gen memes, same as any other meme. a few of them seem to do well enough so there's obviously exceptions to the above, but overall, a sea of empty top levels isn't going to encourage more variety in the community.

i think you're using a phenomenon that both gen and shipping fans hate and using it as an excuse to explain why gen memes don't get more play, even though shipping memes experience the same thing and the popular ones still get a lot of threads no matter how quickly they're bumped down the page
