I'm also on team "don't just ghost them" but situations like this have made me wary too. Anons like to insist that nobody will care if you use an opt-out, but there have been multiple occasions where that wasn't the case and where the other party threw a fit or just straight up lied so they could play the martyr on Plurk. And while those cases might be the minority, it only needs to happen once for it to put you off forever.

there's one particular wanker who still has it out for myself and a few friends, and i know she's gotten someone a strike for using her opt out before by twisting it around and making it seem like this was a targeted attack or whatever. both of the times ive had to opt out of interacting with her i've just been honest with the mods and told them look, i just want to have everything abovedeck so that you know the EXACT wording of my opt out just in case there are problems with this person because i opted out.

and honestly? every time i've had to do that the mods (of multiple games) have been super understanding and normal about it.
