Players who run in those circles are almost exclusively in private games anyway. So yes, we have a problem with stagnation, but if anything the trend towards invite-only spaces is contributing more to that than someone pointing out they don't always attract the nicest people.

And while that's kind of anecdotal, that's also been my experience. Being private means being more insular which often leads to cattiness.

you know, it's funny you say that because that's what i was led to believe and so i avoided murder games like the plague for ages until a friend finally talked me into one, and then i found out that murder game players are some of the most chill and easygoing rpers i've met and now i play exclusively in murder games because i don't have to deal with the same stupid, petty drama i did when i played in games like prisma.

i would believe that, because the people who bash murdergame players are probably the people who tried a murdergame and got so fucking bootyblistered by ic events that they decided everyone else who plays in a murdergame must be the asshole

Or maybe they just had bad experiences there? The truth is likely somewhere in the middle, i.e. there's good and bad players in any game.

i used to be a regular with murdergames. overall i had a very fun time, but there is almost always 1-2 people in a game that will try to derail it/act like the main character because they want to be high-key dramatic.

ymmv. most murdergamers i've run into have been snooty dramaqueens but they do keep to themselves so it's pretty much a moot point.

i've been wanting to play in murder games for a good while now but it just hasn't worked out in my favor. the friends i have who are in them either aren't playing in them currently, taking breaks or flat out retired from games. you're living the dream nonny, one of these days i hope i get to play in one!
