rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

what makes dw a more attractive platform for rp than others, for you? i'm not talking so much about the people who use dw rp or the quality of their writing, but what attracts you about the interface itself: the threads, journals, icons.

I like that threads are preserved publicly to re-read and can be found with relative ease. That's a downside to Discord for me; unless I remember a line or a word from a scene in play, I'm not going to be able to easily find it to re-read.

This, and the fact that I can tag without hitting a ridiculously low character limit. I'm not attached to anything else about the site itself. I wish we relied less on icons honestly.

+1 this is it for me. icons and journals for each character and the like are fun, but not necessary.

yeah, icons i can do without, but i disagree on individual character journals - that's pretty great imo. i can dump references, preferences, trackers, anything i want there. mind you this is only a pro over discord, since on tumblr and twitter you can do that too (well, to an extent on twitter), but still worth mentioning.

the fact i can track threads, comms, posts etc and get notifs, especially for mod stuff.

COMMUNITIES. i miss this for fandom discussion too tbh and it's the only reason why i still use facebook. i hate how modern social media sends your posts to the "global tag" where you can be found by pretty much anyone, but if you make your account private then you will never be able to find buddies to discuss. communities allow me to find a place that has the vibes and rules i want for my fandom enjoyment. (i think lots of problems with fandom nowadays would be solved if we could have communities again tbh). i know tumblr tried to do games but they never were too popular? you had to follow anyone like we used to do with journal based games. i don't think any platform does games like we do except for forums, but- and that takes us to the next point

being able to have separate threads if i put up a log/top level is amazing, which is what i always hated about forums, all those mixed responses in one topic.

the tagging system to find stuff, because on twitter and tumblr it sucks (and i think on twitter you can't use it only on your account?)

the site is made for writing and reading. formatting, length, etc.

i'm probably forgetting stuff but those are the big ones. that said, i think most of us are here because we like our fandom culture here. if tomorrow we found a more active place with our standards, i think everyone would move there even if the design was awful. so op, take all the answers you're getting with a grain of salt to an extent. i don't think most dwrpers are actually married to the site, even if we do love many of the features.

any features you (or any other anons reading along!) would want to see, above and beyond the ones dw offers?
