nothing but backseat drivers in this clown car
Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-28 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)This. This is the thing. For the love of god give me JUST that first impression to work with and we'll catch fire.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-28 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)It shows you can bring plotting to the thread and you probably won't rely upon your threadmate to solely carry the thread. The first impression also makes it easier for people to determine whether or not they want to learn more about your character. "Oh, this first impressions says they're a really bad chef and mine's a picky eater, great, I can work with that." Icons and a link to an info page is like...if I cared to research whether or not I'd want to tag you in the first place, then I'd be pulling open Google.
It's like plotting memes. Who are you more excited for: the person that has some great ideas, or the person that spams a bunch of excited emotes at you but doesn't really deliver on anything?
I'm also going to piss off a few people by saying this, but just linking to your info page and your permissions and whatever else in your top level without bringing some ideas with it is a turn off. It's like writing ota. It's like writing [shippy, sweet, sad pls]. It just tells me that you've probably got some copy/paste ready for your top levels; it doesn't tell me that you're aware of the meme you're top leveling in or that you actually have some ideas in mind for the meme.
(That said, "Here's an elevator pitch, here's a brief first impression, here's a link to an info page and permissions, etc." is fine for a top level, because it combines all of the above and streamlines it.)

(Anonymous) 2021-03-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)and im canon blind a LOT. as much as i would like to read/watch everything i do not have that kind of time. </3 catch-22 is though i will probably end up reading or watching your whole canon if you get me loving your character after one fun thread.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-29 01:59 am (UTC)(link)But I guess I see it as being like online ordering at a restaurant. Mileage varies, but it's like:
Empty top level: One of those menus that's like '1. Chicken Cutlets' and that's it. Maybe there's a picture? I usually order something familiar in cases like this.
Top level with a brief sales pitch: Menu item + brief description of what you're actually ordering, and whether or not that's sufficient in itself depends on your particular dietary restrictions and mood. Sometimes I'm ordering chicken teriyaki and don't really need to think about it, and sometimes I really want to know what exactly is in the bento box.
Top level with brief sales pitch + link to info/permissions/etc: One of those menus that has the name, the description, and a link to additional nutritional info right there. Because sometimes you need to know if you're about to order something that has peanut in it.
Top level with link to info/permissions/etc: One of those fancy menus that has '1. Chicken Cutlets' with probably a dramatic transition to the description of the dish and lots of Javascript working in the background.
And then scale this based upon how hungry you are (aka how much tag energy you have) and how quickly you can find something that'll satisfy your hunger (aka enough people to tag out to/to be tagged by)
