Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

i had a big hiatus from my game because of COVID and missed a whole month, to include plurk. i don't know how to reorient my character in the game setting and feel disconnected, and the event is coming soon. how have other people gotten back into the groove of things? where do i start? what do i do so that i'm immersed again when the event rolls around? i'm feeling a bit lost.

Talk to your CR? If you were avoiding plurk, you can always PM or just even make a plurk asking CR for anything that you may have missed that was important.

If your character was hiatused, were they out of the action entirely or handwaved? Building up things that might have been done for the character during that time can help, if they weren't hiatused being unconscious or inaccessible.

If you're not feeling too overwhelmed by being behind, glance over the game comms and see what catches your eye that feels relevant to you or might be fun to read over? Sometimes it just helps to play catchup, if you have a bit of time while it's still quiet and the end of your hiatus isn't official yet.

Also, just remember to breathe a little! It's okay to be behind with everything going on IRL, and most people in your game may be also having trouble. Communication is really your best bet, get some feelers out and see what reels you back in.

get talking to your cr and people your character might have cr with and work out some handwaved stuff, or ask them to tell you what they've got going on and see if you can do things around that.

maybe post some open prompts for players to tag with things for outside of the event? or post on the network or whatever if your game has one to get some threads rolling again.

basically the more reaching out you do, the more you'll start getting back and you'll be back in your groove in no time
