Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I use firefox as well, but chrome is definitely the majority browser now thanks to stupid decisions Mozilla made that broke many add-ons we use.

lmao and people act all fucking pikachu surprise face when they realize their data is being monitored and sold, constantly.

you can't turn off analytic/monitoring scripts in chrome. they're built into the browser software. "oh but some of my add-ons broke" fucking cry me a river.

I just changed over to a firefox clone browser that lets me use my add ons. I can use my add ons and my data isn't being sold. Win-win for me.

+1, where there's a will there's a way.

what clone do you use anon? i'm not browser savvy and mine is so out of date that it won't let me install new add-ons.

I use Waterfox myself, it works pretty well.

i legit do not understand some people's absolute dependence on add-ons. i have seen people go into histrionics over lj juggler not working and it's just like... it takes maybe 30 seconds to log into/out of a journal, how is that a big deal?

there's also comprehensive alternatives to it if they just bothered to, like. look.

people like customizing their software for their personal experience, janet.

they like it so much they throw fits when mildly inconvenienced by its often temporary absence?

the balking isn't at the fact people like it, anon, it's at how dramatic people's reactions to it not working are.

it's the entitlement for a free non-registered service that always gets me. dwtools and lj jugglr aren't actually provided by dw. whether you pay for dw or not, you aren't entitled to having jugglr and dw tools work for you. yet some people flip out over it when it's not. or when it's out for a day or so while people not getting paid to fix this shit, fix this shit.

it was made as a convenience. it's great when and if they work and they're there to use. but they're not part of the paid service and not having them doesn't negate being able to use dw. you just can't use it as conveniently. oh, the horror.

i wouldn't hate chrome if its internal analytics weren't so fucking invasive on top of it being a constant ram hog (wonder why)

so firefox/waterfox it is. 99% of the add-ons work fine or have a work-around with the exception of lj juggler (which they will probably fix in time!) so if you value your own privacy you're just going to have to get over it
