Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

SECRET SOCIETY GAME

would anyone be keen on a plot-driven jamjar revolving around a secret society?

my initial thoughts:
— characters are solicited by the society/existing character and must voluntarily accept (whether under duress or misunderstanding)
— they get inducted through creepy initiation rites that give clues as to the real nature of the society
— no auto translation, but the society has its own language that all novices will know how to speak. the more they use this language, however, the more they will find their minds bent toward becoming more loyal to the society (how this plays out will be left to the players)
— characters can go home, but they remain a member of the society and will be pulled back as events happen
— the society invokes a deity that's more of an idea or concept (maybe, repentance?) that will be explored as the metaplot continues
— characters that rebel will be forced to go through an interview/trial derived from their worst nightmares and/or delivered by another member dear to them. no one leaves the society alive (not sure if i want to bar people from apping dead characters). you can pretend to be loyal and rebel secretly, the society doesn't seem to read minds (for now :)
— the society is intent on upholding its existing power, which involves rooting out rebellions here and there, visiting places to collect tithes and maybe even competing with rival societies. so these would be the kind of things we'll do for monthly events
— early thoughts on metaplot: the society's older members keep getting killed by something and it's desperate to find out why while trying to save their own skins by sacrificing the novices (that's you)

Yes! I really like this! There's a lot about it that feels fresh and different.

I have a few characters that do not thrive in "Help! I'm stuck in this jamjar and I WANT TO GO HOME" environments, so the option of going back now and then would be perfect for them.

thank you!

i was even thinking of missions where they're asked to go back and do something in their home worlds, but it's all still vague for now. i'd love to hear your thoughts!

I love this, especially the no auto-translate aspect. I hope you go through with it, nonny!
