it's honestly a no-win situation and it sucks but i don't know what the solution is and no one seems to. the logic that wank dies if you don't acknowledge it is certainly true for one-off wanky comments on these comms, but there are or have been some mega-wanky grudgewankers in this hobby who will literally just keep dragging someone for ages and warning people off them for ages. i really doubt it has no effect whatsoever on poisoning their social circles. and grudgewank or not, threads like this can have an effect on someone's rep. and if the point of the thread is "yo, is someone a creep?" and your experiences with them weren't creepy... i don't see how that's not valuable anecdata to the point, but then people will just call it whiteknighting. lose/lose/lose.

this exactly. the issue for me here is that the player in question saw the comment and put in a hiatus for their character because they're worried they did something to make someone uncomfortable. there's now at least one person who possibly won't play with them because they took an anonymous comment with very little details and information at face value.

so yes, the whiteknighting is cringe-worthy, but i'd rather cringe than watch someone who doesn't deserve it have to deal with the negative consequences of one person's baseless anonymous shit-stirring with no one pointing out that it's unfair and unfounded.

if you have a grudgewanker then defending the target only makes them dig their heels in that much more and keep posting harder.

if you get a one-off comment literally no one will remember it unless you and your friends dogpile it to chime in how great you are.

the solution is to not look at it if you're unable to stop yourself from replying or getting offended and then being none the wiser.

i know all about grudgewank because i was one of the apparently over nine-thousand people seth wanked on forever (just to judge by how many anons i see saying the same wanker wanked them), and i didn't defend myself, nor do i defend my friends when i see them getting dragged here, though it honestly bothers me more to see them dragged than me.

but. while most people know to take anon comms with a healthy grain of salt, some do use them to try to assess who to play with or avoid, and while that is unavoidable as long as anon comms exist, when the purpose of a subthread is to feel out whether someone is actually a creep, i don't see how it's useful to say any reply not in the affirmative is a whiteknight, especially when the standard for creep in this hobby is apparently "dude wants to write fucking in a smut game." as the anon mentioned above, it can also have real repercussions. sometimes they aren't measurable because sometimes you have no idea who has pre-emptively judged you, but they can still exist. to the extent i do agree with you that coming in and defending people causes more problems, it's still shitty and fucked up that things have gotten to this point around baseless claims.

anyway, i don't know the mun so i can't whiteknight even if i wanted to, but as a general observation, complaining about vaghopping and cockhopping is fucking stupid. what literally stupid terms to begin with. i wish you lot would save the accusations of wrongdoing for actual fucking predators and abusers and not every random person who is thirsty in some way that pisses you off.
