i think it might be the current event, honestly. it's not really that engaging? i keep going to look at it to try to do something with it, but it's just not really grabbing me.

it's not really grabbing me, either, but i thought there'd at least be some top levels making the most of it to tag into.

but you are right that this game could use more engaging events that aren't just various sexy scenarios and spirit shenanigans.

tbh it might also be a people are busy thing - which when people are busy they're not going to make time for a toplevel or tagging if they're also not grabbed by something? i've seen lots of my yoshiwara timeline talking about being busier right now.

this event is extremely unengaging and lackluster. It's kind of hard to come up with prompts for a top-level based off of what the event post gives us, too.

that's been the problem with past events too. it seems the mods have no idea how to make interesting prompts.

It's not even that they're uninteresting so much as they're too open ended. If we had more suggestions as to what to do with the settings we're being given it would be different.

I'd love my character to write down a wish and find someone with something similar. But why couldn't we have a little list to guide us like being drawn to such and such paper colour makes it something under such and such category. The tarot card prompt in an earlier TDM is a perfect example of how this one's rules could've been laid out.

Nobody (on my timeline, at least) seems to like plotting, so we need things like that where everyone can skip it and jump right in.

all this does is encourage the mods to hold player's hands for them and for no one to actually think creatively and come up with their own scenarios. why can't y'all just ask the mods if smth is possible or feasible if you're not sure? I agree these events are garbo, but come the fuck on. what you're suggesting takes half the fun out of threading in the first place and makes a thread essentially on rails.

But I guess most rpers just don't want creativity or plotting or anything meaty to their threads anymore. no one wants to be open with plotting or have to talk ooc to other players, they just want their on rails experience with no creativity.

You think you're arguing, but you're just reiterating what I said.

I know I've always been heavy on plotting and taking things in different directions than prompts give us. The problem is all the other players I've seen willing to go to the same effort have dropped, and hand holding is about the only thing that might stand a chance at getting the remaining ones to toplevel.

This game wouldn't be dying if the players worrying about it looking dead would post something.

some players did post something, though. the event log is empty, but a few other players have made their own open/semi-open July logs for people to jump into. they're putting in that effort you're looking for.

but nobody's tagging those, either. this game is just coming to a halt.
