Oooh, that's kind of cool! I think part of it might also be some of the German music scene. I only took one semester of German, but my teacher was from Hamburg. Still, we students were probably doing it wrong!

I hope I get the chance to visit Germany sometime and see for myself. It sounds like a really pretty and interesting place. I am still jealous of their vacation days. My teacher bragged so much.

Well, the American's spotlight on the German music scene is quite different than their music scene. The pop music from the late 90s/early 2000s reminds me most of what's on the radio in Germany in recent years. Americans seem to really only know about Rammstein and a couple other obscure hardcore rock groups because even I admit that harshly roared German is more threatening than, say, French or Italian. The creepiest language is still Latin by far, though.

It's definitely a country worth visiting. Try to research into it and go beyond the tourist attractions! And make sure you have someone who can speak German. They'll know English, but the fact that you're trying to learn and understand is a really big gesture and will make them more willing and eager to cooperate (same goes for quite a few other European countries).

Yeah, I wish I had a schedule like the Germans. Year round school, but longer vacations. Who needs a summer break! Not me, I get bored to death in the summer. Especially since it's so awfully hot.
