rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. (Anonymous) 2012-04-10 04:19 am (UTC)(link)What's most striking about the differences... I'd say the demeanor. Germans feel really... grounded, and reserved? Compared to the Americans or the English (they are a lot more like you guys than they'd like to admit). One thing that's always been really striking about Americans is how loud and brash and rude they are, as well as how violent, and yet you're all renowned for your hospitality. You're basically all regarded as the "douchebag friend". The one who goes WHOA DUDE at explosions but will be the "cool bro" and let you stay over and show some good hospitality. It's not that it's absent in Germany/Europe, but Americans have their own particular style for it, so it's interesting. Then again, I lived in the South until recently so that may have a huge role in it.
It's beautiful! The one really impressive thing about Germany is the history. Not... the Nazi thing, obviously, but the stuff that's just so much more ancient. America's structures are just underwhelming after seeing the history woven throughout Germany. A place my father recommends going is Rothenburg, which is a tiny town somewhere in the northern part of Germany.
