Idk

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

the thread above about not paying for things got me to wondering, is it stealing if you take a bunch of sugar/sweetener/salt/pepper packets or napkins and straws from a restaurant without paying for them even after you did buy something?

nope

(Anonymous) 2012-04-09 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, unless there's a sign about only taking X condiments/silverware per order.

As someone who's worked in a cafe and fast food, I've seen it and it's not a big thing.

But if you come in with a tote bag and just dump them all in there, yeah, we'll get annoyed. But we can't really stop anyone from doing it unless they're causing a scene/not dressed properly/violent.

Kind of on par with people taking shitty soaps and tiny shampoo bottles from some hotel chains, I'd imagine.

There are people who don't do that?

I don't. Not for any holier-than-thou reasons or anything, I just never really have.

But I haven't really stayed in a hotel outside of school trips, either, so maybe I would!

lol guess i'm okay then. i don't do it to stock up like that, i just love my food extra salty and i go through a lot of napkins in one meal (messy eater here) and i like to have an extra straw on hand in case the one i'm using gets dirty. it's still probably more than my fair share though. :(

Ahaha, no way. At one of my work places, we would have this guy come in three times a week after lunch rush was over and order fresh fries dropped and no salt added. So we did that.

Then he would take like ten or twelve packets of salt, put them all on the paper insert on the tray, and salt them as he wanted to.

People have their likes/quirks! It's not a big deal. There are far, far worse things you could do at a place with those condiments than take a bunch of them, especially if it's a food place that has a drive thru.

there was a customer like that when i worked at mcdonalds, except she did it through the drive-thru during lunch rush and threw a fit at how long it would take. :| like we were supposed to just have it ready at all times for whenever she came by.

to the thread op, you can get away with a lot if you're not rude about it. for the most part we didn't judge or give a fuck what someone wanted unless they treated us like shit.

Yeah, see, this guy wasn't rude. We just knew him and as soon as we walked in the door, the fries went down. Then he went off and played the salting game and everything was fine.

Being rude gets people nowhere in fast food. Nowhere.

they won't call the police on you or anything but if you're taking, like, several tables' worth or something they might ask you to put some back.

Where I live, they dole ketchup packets, napkins, etc out to you. So I guess the fast food joints here all mutually decided that it was stealing.
