This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

... no links allowed for basic canon info, history and personality is a bit much, don't you think?

also, please consider your tone in a lot of these things. you are the mod, yes, but sometimes you come off as really brash/rude/intimidating, which might keep people away not only from the game but also from you if there are any problems, and that is not good for the game and its future (and id really prefer it to thrive and live)

Also, what's that "About me" section? That's something really weird to be on an app for a game. Handle and if you are or aren't over 18, I get, but who I am or what I want to do (besides play in your game) shouldn't matter.

All of this. The way you sound is really off-putting and intimidating. It's not welcoming at all. If you don't want people to join, why bother making a game to begin with?

... there is nothing there with anyone saying they want to make a better horror game than the hotel one (which is going to be one massive failure because it doesn't please sol or horror fans and some of the rules make the game downright unplayable - not to mention the "hetalia" thing, why?)

nobody who plays from a canon that runs over a season/has a hefty amount of manga or comic issues/is a multipart book series is going to write out their history section. hell, barely any games require you to write out a history section in the first place.

that application is a mess. writing canon world and history is a waste of time for everyone involved (for players to have to write it and for mods to have to read it), "about me" is more padding (if you want to know the player's thoughts on plots then add a proper "what are your plans for the game?" -or somethung similar- question, that one has been used before and it makes more sense on an app). and the voluntary nerfing... what is the point of making the player write that if you're gonna apply mod nerfs anyway? why waste time "negotiating"? just make them write the powers down and you nerf them when you write the acceptance reply. and make it their own section, because if you want stuff about personality in the strenght/weakness part, people will talk about abilities there if you let them

Forgot to add: i do love that you ask for nightmare threads for AC, that's fantastic (like smut ac in smut games, helps fight sol in games that aren't). that said, maybe in the "four threads every two months" part you should make it two nightmare threads minimum, since you're doubling the rest

man... i was really excited when i got here and saw that you had made reservations be on the 27th instead, but then i looked around and, well, i have to agree with most of the above points :/

that app is a turn off for me too for the reasons stated above by others. not being able to link some stuff feels unnecessary (particularly when you point out elsewhere that we all have "other games" and things to do). and i also have to agree that the way you sound, not only in the app but in some other places too, feels a bit weird to me as well. its like you are trying to keep people away or making them afraid of you which doesnt give me great vibes about your mod-capabilities and the chances the game will survive


damn. you got my hopes really high, too. but im wary of joining a game that might not survive after a month: its happened two times already in the past six months too, all dead, all of the horror/survival genre. whats up with that, ive been dying for a game like this for so long... /sighs forever

You all make some really great points. Thanks for the feedback, both about my tone and about the application. I'll go through both the game info and the app today and try to make some adjustments.

One thing that's important to me is letting players decide their own nerfs wherever possible. Would it be better to just de-power everyone? Does anyone have any suggestions about giving people the first say in their nerfs? Especially because as much as I want people to choose to nerf, I also need characters to be on a mostly level playing field.

here is the thing about nerfs: either make them mod choice or player choice. one of those and not both. my issue with it was the waste of time of making the player write it down but then the mod would modify as they thought it was fair anyway. it's doing a job twice. pointless.

what you can do is to tell players that they're allowed 100% depowering and they can write that instead of the power section. if they want to keep some powers, then they must write them all down and YOU nerf them. that can help you keep the level of power in the game in a way you want.

That's a really good idea! I'll adjust the app to allow links for canon and character into, and change the nerfs section.

honestly, considering the obvious inspiration for this game and one of its themes being feeling powerless against the influence of the town, a full "all powers nerfed" blanket wouldn't be out of place at all.

The game isn't open yet, so unless Ca plays a Resident Evil character, then as far as I know, they haven't expressed any interest. All other interest expressed in this game has been anonymous.

If Ca's app is bad, I'll deny it; if Ca behaves badly in the game, I'll handle it. That's pretty much all I can promise.

If you'd like full disclosure: I'm Nagia, and I'm not associated with Ca. I used to be in the LJRP scene about ten years ago, but I dropped all my characters and I'm just getting back into it. not ca, however, i *do* feel like there are a lot of butthurt Hotel game people in this thread who are trying to make this game/its future mod seem associated with Ca (when they are not), if the example they gave up there with that pastebin is any indication (they say something is in the pastebin that is not at all) and if your post here asking just that is any indication as well.
