rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. TBH all of Dupe’s coding is just trying so hard to look nice and fancy but it’s all really difficult to parse. I find their prompts for events and TDM slightly hard to read, as well.

the prompts themselves don't give me a problem but i hate how they format the plotting post forms. it reads as kind pretentious, i have to keep scrolling back up to remind myself what each prompt is titled, and it gives no room for anything besides the event. if you want to give a brief description of your character or talk about what they've been up to or any personal plots they'd like to get others involved in, you have to just do your own thing entirely.

event plotting posts are...for events? but the forms still always have an "anything else" section at the bottom

how much hand holding do you need? ffs is this really "the mods didn't give a specific header/place for me to talk about personal plots so I can't do them"? use some god damn initiative

the event plotting posts are the only plotting posts we get, though. they're basically left to function as a catch-all plotting post for the whole month. and i said you could alter the forms for your own use, but it's dumb that you should have to if you wanna try finding new CR in any way outside the event prompts.

the CR meme is similarly useless. you get space to talk about what kind if CR you want, but nowhere to quickly describe your character. if you want to find out more about any characters you're unfamiliar with when looking for new CR, you have to click into each journal's info posts and read through their whole biography. why is a character visual and their apartment number more important than "btw this is what the character is actually like for quick reference".

so basically you're not being spoon fed enough and you're complaining that you have to lift your own food to your mouth and chew

because under the section on the CR meme form that says "information" you couldn't possibly write a few words of quick summary about your character as well as giving a link

nope, no space there! that would be utterly impossible unless the mods tell you "SUMMARIZE YOUR CHARACTER HERE"

if you can write your way out of a wet paper bag then you can include enough info/hooks/keywords/brief description of your character in the provided spaces on any of the forms to let people know about them

and if you can't do that then having a section that says "describe your character here!" isn't going to make any damn difference anyway because you'd still have to do that magical, mystical thing where you use words to convey what you want to get across

i can do it just fine. the issue is that 95% of people will just fill out the form as given and give no character information unless specifically told to. me doing my own thing won't change how everyone else uses it. so when i go through the meme looking for new characters that might be interesting to get CR with, all i have to work with is pictures and maybe "well my character kinda fits the CR they're looking for so maybe it's worth looking into this character more". it's obnoxious having to dig through separate info posts for every character that might look interesting, and no one has the time to look at every single character's info posts when this game is as big as it is so plenty are gonna fall through the cracks. as it is, i barely use the CR meme because i have better luck plotting with people i already know.

people complain about the game events and mechanics not being the best for facilitating smut and all that and anyone saying they just use the setting to do their own thing gets shouted down. but say "hey, this meme/plotting form isn't really ideal or very helpful" and suddenly it's WELL JUST DO YOUR OWN THING WHY DO YOU NEED SO MUCH HANDHOLDING

I have to agree on the CR meme. It feels inefficient and lacks a lot of the sections I'd consider essential in CR memes.

For a more detailed breakdown, I think it would be more conducive to CR planning if the sections were name, age, designation, personality blurb, shipping/smut preferences, kinks/scenes we're actively looking for, CR we want, CR we can offer, and any mid or long-term IC or OOC plans we have in the works. Which isn't too different from what it is now and requires a little more writing, but past experience at other games tells me it'll make a huge difference.
