I'm not even saying it's fair. familiarity is also a big part of comfort, and with it preconceived notions and bias. people are always going to feel less shitty about shit they're already primed to like. that doesn't mean they're lying about how shitty they do or don't feel, though. people react differently to similar things with different contexts behind them.

nothing is going to make people like your edgy OCs as much as equally edgy canon characters, anon. sorry but that's just how it is.
