thanks for the input of everyone except this guy

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Re: Wander | Shadow of The Colossus

I think you could definitely draw a lot from his relationship with Agro, as well as his choice in weapons.

Argo first. Wander clearly shares a close bond with Argo; you can't command a stolen horse the way Wander commands Argo, which imo is a pretty strong hint that he's been her rider for a long time and that she accompanies him willingly. Argo is loyal to him, even when confronted by towering colossi and other dangers; game mechanics aside, she logically wouldn't demonstrate this behavior if Wander was an abusive master. (a quick link that should delve into horse psychology a bit more: https://pethelpful.com/farm-pets/horsetrainingdisciplineabuse )

What this tells me is that Wander is the sort of person who can form that kind of bond. While pragmatic enough to have no problem with hunting animals for food (world setting aside, you can hunt and eat lizards in-game), I can't see him as being prone to physically lashing out. Maybe he doesn't talk much, and gets to the point verbally, but he can also have an unexpected (and subtle) gentle side. Maybe even more comfortable with small gestures than speaking his feelings out loud.

Also, Wander is an impressive archer. Even though his bow and arrows aren't used to kill colossi directly, Wander is still practiced enough to fire accurately (ignoring player ability obvs) even from horseback. That's some advanced shit! Compare the clumsy way he swings the sword he stole before heading to the forbidden lands (details are a tiny bit fuzzy but i'm pretty sure that's what happened). Wander can use it, we see him use it to stab colossi fuckin' dead, but his movement is very....amateurish. Serviceable, but amateurish. His real talent and experience definitely lies in his archery.

Archery, esp. at advanced levels, involves a lot of focus, concentration, patience, mental sharpness, and discipline. I can see him being more methodical than hot-blooded, difficult to distract to the point of being single-minded (which iirc we can see flashes of throughout his quest), detail-orientated and observant, and able to tamp down on his emotions when needed.

these are just some of my quick thoughts tho, I haven't replayed the game super recently so take them with a grain of salt.
