You don't quite remember how you arrived here. It appears that you're suddenly in a dead land with eerily red skies. The grass is dead, the trees are dying, and there's absolutely no sounds of life beyond your own footsteps, even if it feels like you're being watched somehow. Eventually along the narrow path you follow, you walk through gates that seem to guard a quiet, abandoned town and a sinking feeling starts to settle in that you are far from home and there may not be an easy way back. The sign hanging above the gates simply says "Welcome to Penance: Home Between Homes" and nothing more. Within the gates, there are the leftovers of what may have once been a lively, welcoming little town, if it didn't look as if people either fled or somehow vanished in the blink of an eye. There are dusty shops that are still stocked with supplies, many with their doors busted out or left open. There are homes that haven't been touched in what feels like an eternity but they still have furniture and the remnants of the people who lived there previously. Cars and bikes are littering the streets that are in varying shapes of usability. The more you look, the more unsettling everything becomes. At some point while wandering this creepy ghost town, all new visitors are greeted by the same small group. It's a curious mix of cherub faces and demonic sneers dressed up in smart suits. Professionals. They tell you that you were very bad in your past life, but not to worry, they are here with an offer that you really shouldn't refuse. Stay in Penance and agree to undergo punishments for your sins, cleanse yourself of all that heavy baggage, or follow your less pleasant greeters down to the pits of Hell to suffer for an eternity... atonementrp is a panfandom sandbox based in a town on the border between Hell and the living world called Penance. Characters are allowed to live their lives and work off their sins by agreeing to undergo punishments whenever their hosts see fit. Got this in at the tail end of the last post, so trying it again...

So I want to flesh out this little self-righteous monster. The problem is, instead of too few PBs like I normally have, there's too much variety, since the author gave him a very basic description: blonde hair and dark eyes, no mention of age, but probably in his twenties?

He's a very serious character, so I'm looking for someone who looks like they're full of righteousness and maybe a little haughty, but also someone who looks like they're so wound up tight they might go a little crazy if they ever let loose.

So I have an idea to make a semi-moderated Dressing Room based on Black Mirror’s “Hang the DJ”

SPOILERS FOR THAT EPISODE BELOW



Okay, so for those that aren’t familiar, the premise of Hang the DJ is that people from all over agree to enter a program that is supposedly to find their perfectly compatible match (soulmate) with a 99.9% success rate.

The canon mechanics include:
- A device to each participant that, when prompted, sets them up on a date almost immediately.

- The device acts as a timer that, once started, tells matches how long they are to be together for (could be hours, could be years). Unknown to participants, there is a penalty if the partners don’t start the timers at the same time (so if one peeks while the other doesn’t, there will be a penalty).

- People in this program are given housing and allowances for being involved in it, so if your character is poor and not looking for a partner, this would be easy motivation for them to get involved.

- A “name day” where the system has found, after numerous dates and data gathered on what the person needs in a partner, their 99.9% match.

Now I love this idea, but I am not personally interested in moderating a game or enforcing AC. I would rather people who want to get involved with this premise just come and go as they please and decide their own level of commitment. So here is what I am proposing:

- A sign-up board for those who want to participate in the next matching. Thinking I’ll limit it to 1-2 characters per mun to start or make it a free-for-all for a few days, depending on how popular this idea is.

- The matches will be based on OOC preferences such as tagging speed, the sexuality the mun wants for the character (so if canonly the char is straight/bi but the mun wants gay, the char is going to be getting gay dates), and the personality of the characters involved. The system is just as likely to set people up with super clashing personalities and no attraction to one another just to see how they’d tolerate each other for the program.

- There will be bi-weekly or monthly meme events for people to participate in, possibly based on vote. Of course there will always be a ‘First Date’ type meme up every month like an intro post in other games. Most of them may be slice-of-life but there will be some other kinks thrown in to keep things interesting!

- There will be a monthly check-in page where participants describe their CR. This is not mandatory unless a participant is looking to progress and get a new date. I know some people flake out on things, so I’m gonna have to think of a work-around on that one that involves the minimum amount of drama…

- Maybe muns are allowed to ask for a new date three times before they need to turn in this questionnaire for at least one of their matches? That way there is leeway for people who are having problems with tag speed OOCly, people aren’t flaking, and it encourages partners to communicate in order to decide if they still want to play together or drop the relationship.

- The variation of dating times allows for people to thread out their relationships at their own pace and develop a rapport with characters. So instead of AC forcing a deadline on everyone, the questionnaire makes for more developed CR.


Things I need/Concerns:
- Well first off, is there any interest out there for this idea?

- Should there be a Participant page for muns that has their muses on it? Should there be a limit for how many they can involve in the DR at a time? Like I don’t want to be stingy but I also don’t want someone musedumping either.

- Should we allow people to use bakerstreet and other community memes for their CR reports or should we keep it strictly to our DR?

- Obviously I’m going to need extra hands at helping me pair off people and read over threads so we can be thinking about how to progress for next pairs.

- I’m not that good at setting up html or setting up Excel spreadsheets, though I know how to manage them once they are set up.

I've been indulging in garbage supernatural romance lately and it's given me the itch to RP it with an added layer of smut and kink.

1. Monster girl/human girl. Maybe the human is a hunter tasked with shooing away/trapping/killing the monster, but she finds herself naturally entranced or effected by pheromones; or perhaps the human is part of a village that's been seized by an all-female monster clan, and she's been chosen as the leader's prize/bride.

If we decide to go the hunter route, I'd love it if the human could have different encounters with different monsters. For instance, she'd get captured by a mountain oni one week and then become the plaything of a Dullahan during a dungeon crawl the next.

I'd prefer to play the human for this!

2. A teenage witch places a curse on her bully, and suddenly the bully is being targeted for sex by every woman who happens to be breathing the same air she does. This includes school faculty; maybe even members of her own family. (Super awkward!) The bully, who was once skeptical of witchcraft, to say the least, has no choice but to appeal to her former victim. Will the witch show mercy or will she bargain for sexual favors in exchange for lifting the curse?

I'd prefer to play the witch for this, as well as the female offenders.

Universally loved kinks include domination and seduction, dubious consent (very dubious, in some cases), breast/nipple play, clit play, lots of fondling in general, oral sex, toys, pleasure and orgasm control/denial, MD/lg, height differences, and costume porn. Open to hearing about and integrating yours!

OCs > canon characters. Writing quality, creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment > state of your icons.

I was never really in to one particular fandom but I was very interested in reading "shrines" people had set up. I remember one particular girl who had an Akito Sohma shrine that featured a lot of twinky Akito fanart that was produced before the big gender reveal. When that chapter was released this person had the most spectacular temper tantrum I have ever seen on the internet to this day. She tore down the whole site and put her rant up that went something like "I am so upset, I'm never touching anything by Natsuki Takaya ever again because she thinks it's okay to stick tits on her dudes, how dare she blah blah blah" like SEVERAL paragraphs worth of wailing.

I remember I was shocked at how much disproportional rage this person had over something like that.

I also remember visiting the websites of the people who were involved in FFVII house before that whole thing went public. It is very weird in hindsight.

just generally frustrated that i can't find a game to settle into. there are a couple i'm hoping to test drive near the end of the month, but i miss having a "home" game that i'm really enthusiastic about and where i feel like i belong.

also i hurt my right pinky finger and it's all swaddled up in a too-big bandaid so i can't type as well as i'd like.

anons i don't know if this is an appropriate place for this but wankgate seemed like a worse option. i have a friend who was a pretty popular wank target for years and i can't find any solid evidence of the crimes this person has supposedly committed.

the thing is they're doing this stuff to me now so i was hoping i'd find something like screen caps or pastebins to support the previous drama. there don't seem to be any, lots of threads about a friend of a friend this person wronged or how they're well known for doing this but no one willing to fish up deets. the oldest drama i can find is vague mentions of old drama i can't seem to locate.

they give me all sorts of agreeable and positive answers ooc when i try to talk to them until we tag. the tags are practically passive aggressive and threads are dropped as soon as they don't go the way this person wants them to even though we already discussed ooc and they at least pretended they were on board during that conversation. i've been collecting examples of how i'm being treated but without actual proof this has been going on for years it looks like i'm the only one dealing with this problem. right now i might be the only one dealing with this problem and wankgate threads with no solid evidence are baseless.

i was hoping when this started that we could talk it out but the topic has been danced around, things have been agreed to with no follow through, and if the wank is true people have already been talking to this person about these problems for years and nothing has changed. i don't want to stir up old wank but i don't know what to do. i fully intended to talk to the player and try to work this out only i can't if they're not being honest with me.

currently i'm working on moving my character's cr away from their's but i was hoping this wouldn't come between us personally so i'm trying to be more gradual and realistic about them drifting apart. i'm starting to think there's no other solution and if i speak up we'll no longer be friends even outside of rp.

has anyone been in a similar situation?

Don't take this too harshly, but just drop them. Don't even waste time breaking off the CR naturally and slowly, just drop them. If this has been going on for so long, they're not going to change their ways any time soon.

It's probably better to drop them as a "friend" too, mostly because friends don't agree to do something and then get passive-aggressive when they do it.

I know it'd probably make you feel better if you could find other people who this person has acted similarly with and get your deets, but it's not worth it. You could name drop them on wankgate and provide what deets you have and maybe others would chime in. If it really bothers you, you could consider going to the mods of your game (unless this is psl stuff).

But honestly it doesn't seem worth the trouble. Just don't play with them anymore. Having gone through something similar recently to the point playing my character just wasn't fun because of them, it might be hard to break it off but it'll be better in the long run.
