THE YEAR

The Year is a panfandom horror RPG, with concepts based on Cabin In The Woods.

There is a small island in the middle of a vast lake, surrounded by an invisible and impenetrable barrier. Deep under the island, there is a group of people called the Technicians - who have the ability to make the darkest ideas and horrors come to life. And deeper still lie the Gods of this world, their horrific appetites only sated with blood and suffering, their awakened presence corrupting the very fabric of the world itself.

To keep them content, you have found yourself unwillingly dragged into a nightmare you can't wake up from - one where you must suffer and die over and over again. The only glimpse of light in it all is the promise scrawled on the strange pamphlet that was on your person when you woke up:

"Sacrifice for one year, and we will let you go back home."

...This we offer in humility and fear, for the end to never come again. As Your will demands...

This use 2017, w bunch of other franchises are dipping their toes into creating LGBT characters. Nintendo and gundam have recently had canon-confirmed bisexuals/gay characters for example.

Fujos may not care about things being canon or not in Japan but i don't necessariy think having a gay option would hurt the company.

Gundam is a boys show but ibo took the risk and are doing fine.

there's been this honestly weird prevalence lately to take slapstick comedy at face value and call it "abuse" as if it's meant to be realistic or something.

and in all fairness, strides are made! queer characters and stories are way more common in manga than they used to be (still kind of all relegated to the josei demographic, but those traditional demographics are becoming more and more meaningless so who knows). "Love my Life" (sush i know it came out over ten years ago but it's still a good example) is still a really popular movie that even got some international success.

stuff is happening, i just don't think we're gonna see it in our heavily anime-influenced media anytime soon.

season 6 just started, apparently?? one day I will catch up with this series.

he could be bi. the japanese fans kind of go either way on it. but the point of his story wasn't him being gay, it was coming to terms with his own masculinity and whether or not it mattered if he was gay or not. it was bigger than just sexuality.

Trying to find a place for Mob to go! Utopique is coming to a close and I really did enjoy it. SO.

I'm looking for a game that has a good mix of levity and possibly serious events - I'm not really interested in horror games since part of the fun of Mob is playing him trying to do pushups or getting dumb and shy about girls. At the same point it's also a bit more fun if the game has the leeway for more serious moments rather than being pure slice of life.

Last time I was in empatheias, it was a bit too SoL for me and I idled out, for example.

I might consider a more SoL game but I think at this point I need more enablers to figure out where I want to go with this doofy overpowered psychic teenager.

iirc it's one of the OCs. I'm not sure how it's being done in game since the character in question has some supernatural abilities so you might want to ask the mod here (http://riverviewmod.dreamwidth.org/4686.html) just to be sure.

that works for a lot of JRPGS where the character interactions aren't part of the story.
