i think it's more along the lines of just not carrying a word over to the next line if it meets the end of the text box, which i just noticed is happening to me too. so it could just be the last letter for you, but i've had it happen mid-word as well.

wtf, plurk? they've been subtly tweaking with a lot of things this month. i had to fuck with my css earlier last week because they did something that messed up with my timeline font.

I'm the anon who pointed out Gonsai was the only person who was straight out ignored. For the record I don't know what wank is attached to him but I do know he's boring and a pain to play with and that many people don't like tagging him. I didn't mean to incite a wank panic so much as point out the only person being ignored is someone who has some cause towards it.

As long as you're not on that level you should be fine.

what's your opinion on people who tag everyone who plays the other half of their otp?

let's say a keith (voltron) player contacts every lance player asking if they want to ship. even if you don't play lance, you see them in memes with any lance open to shipping it.

as long as they aren't harassing people about it, who cares? if any of those lance players also ship it, then i'm sure they'd be happy to find someone who enthusiastically wants to play a ship with them.

i think this community would be 100% happier if more people were upfront and honest about what they really wanted to play.

What do you do when someone starts putting multiple lines of conversation in their tags?

You know you've all see it:



All of that in one tag, broken up by brackets and narration, but no way to conceivably have all of those things being said at once.

Obviously the best method is to crit the person and tell them to cut back their tags, but I'm curious to hear what other people do in this situation, or whether people are knowingly writing in this way.

i want a partner who

- gives engaging and interesting tags, good writing skills
- tags back consistently, about once per day would be ideal
- cute and fun to chat with ooc, but not clingy or smothering
- shares at least one or two fandoms with me for us to chat about
- willing to put in their share of the plotting and moving the story along
- down to write some FILTHY TORTURE PORN with me

maybe it's 'unrealistic', but if another player starts doing this with me? i go with it. it lets me get two conversations written out at once and i don't really give a shit. i'll fold them together if i feel like it, but sometimes i don't bother and just carry two threads until one reaches its natural conclusion and only the other remains. it's only an actual problem when the two conversation threads interfere with one another.

threads often start happening like this because you've written onto another point of the conversation when the other character wasn't done addressing the first. if someone starts forking a thread on you like this, one way to work around it is to offer to go back and let the other character finish before moving on.

Sometimes I just go with it and ignore the weirdness, but when it really messes up the flow, I have my character acknowledge they were asked a bunch of questions at once and just pick one to answer immediately.

If you write well enough then most of the time it's not problem to weave the two parts of the conversation together or let the first one wrap up first to focus on the second or whatever.

I think you're wrong that the best method is to crit the person and tell them to cut back on their tags. In a lot of cases stuff like this can help move a thread along more quickly and get past small talk to stuff of more substance.

In the example you gave, it would be perfectly easy to reply with something like

"I was in class 201," he said pouring the coffee, "Mr. Mitchell's homeroom." He took a seat and set the coffee down in front of them, musing on the question of the weather for a moment... etc.

You actually don't need a separate tag for a lot of simple lines of conversation. You just need to know how write. Get more flexible and more dynamic, dude.

Same as the above anon. Pretty much everyone who plays probably has characters they really want to play against.

Especially with memes, almost all you have most the time is dozens of people posting blank comments. The only reason to reply is if it's a character you're interested in.

If they aren't harassing anyone it's fine. They're just interested in that character(s).
