This. And in addition, a lot of people who I've tried to bring this up with don't seem to understand what a hook is because they think if they're replying to your tag or setting something up that IS the hook. They don't get that a hook is having their character ask a question, or direct the scene, or draw attention to something. And some of them don't even get that after you've explained it to them because they like RP to not be an exercise in stretching their brain, they just want things to react to and not think about.

Stay awake and see if you're still nauseous anon, as you might be mildly concussed from the fall. From there, I'd look up what to do (and whatever you do avoid falling asleep with it IIRC).

I have a lot of silly usernames and it was hard to pick just one. I really need to play this guy more.

Also, his username is referencing a line another character used because it's just so apt. Seriously, his name is Pit. Get it? :D

Others I really like are captain_eager for Zack from Kingdom Hearts: BBS canon and noodleaddict for Naruto from... Naruto. First again references a line used for him, second... If you're familiar with Naruto at all, you know why that's a good username.

For now, I've just been voicetesting Sae. After a marathon that almost drove me mad due to its length, I finished the game a few days ago. While I ponder a couple games for her, I'll be memeing away.

if you can't get to a doctor to get checked out, ask a friend to check in on you every couple of hours to make sure you're still able to be coherent and your eyes are focusing properly. if you're still okay in about 12 hours, you're probably fine, but if the nausea and pain get worse, or you start slurring or getting blurred vision, go right to the hospital.

don't worry about the whole "stay awake for 24 hours" thing, that's a serious misunderstanding of how head trauma works - basically the reason sleeping when you've hurt your head can be dangerous is because being asleep means you're a lot less likely to catch the symptoms of serious injury before you're in a lot of trouble, so as long as you have someone checking in on you, go ahead and nap if you feel the need.

just note which version you're playing, same as you would if an adaptation came out that had your character acting differently than they did in the original source material.

you'll always have a lot of the last two because of action heroes being translated into a modern setting.

honestly i'd rather have them like that, being true to their character, than have vegeta open a pet shop.

He's not a champion of equality and justice in all respects at all times. He has one cause that he devotes himself to obsessively, and completely dismisses other injustices, or thinks they're perfectly fine as long as they're happening to people who disagree with his pet cause (see: him dismissing the situation of the alienage elves, and only ever acknowledging it as an argument for why they should be on his side, as an example). He's unlikely to care about the social justice issue of the day, unless he can turn it into an opportunity to talk about mages.

It seems uncreative to me. Your character will be getting powers and skills back anyway, so they'll still be an action hero. It's going to have a lot less impact if they already have those skills.

i've never had anything good come of trying to ask people for more content in their tags. however, some anons have said that getting hook-related concrit in the past helped them, so i want to believe it's possible.

i don't think you have to write the hooks for them, but if you can identify what's getting in the way of making their tags answerable, they might be able to take it from there. is there too much introspection? do they forget to react to things? do they provide too little dialogue, or forget to supplement their dialogue with body language if their character doesn't talk much? i think it also helps to keep in touch over where the thread is going and ask if you aren't sure what they're driving at. if you both have the same general goals going in ("let's see what X and Y think of issue Z" or "A and B need to get some unobtanium for plot reasons" etc), that can help.

unfortunately, you also have to go into that kind of crit knowing that it might not work. whether it's worth it depends on how much potential you see in the mun.

anons, how do you deal with somebody who has an extremely childish view on the world and looks for any reason to see something as a bad thing? avoiding them is currently impossible because they're close family.

examples:

* some pills/drugs are dangerous, therefore all pills/drugs are dangerous, except for the ones that i personally approve of.
* when i'm frugal, it's a good thing and i'm saving money. when a fellow parent that i hate is frugal, they're cheap and they clearly don't think their children deserve nice things or that their children are worth spending money on.
* everybody who swears in front of my infant is literally satan, but it's no big deal if i do it because she doesn't understand what i'm saying.
* when somebody doesn't leave me leftovers when they didn't even know i'd want any, they're a selfish piece of shit and did it to spite me. when they do leave me leftovers, there's always something wrong with it.
