i'm going to be that person that plays the whole cast, but i have Yusuke and Akira (

let's say you're playing a character from a series that's not available in english. you're fluent in the language their canon's in, maybe even did translations for it yourself so you could share it with others.

after you've been playing the character for some time, their canon gets an official localization! ...except it turns out the localization mistranslated several important scenes for your character and changed the way they talk from soft-spoken and polite to casual and rough (or the other way around). they're still mostly the same character, but the changes to how they talk and the mistranslations in their important scenes are enough to make them come across significantly differently from what you're used to in the original version (and by extension, from how you've been playing them).

what do you do? do you adjust how you play that character to the changes in the localization, even if they're jarring to you or conflict with how you've been playing them until now (i.e. of speech/backstory changes/mistranslations)? do you put a note somewhere on your character's profile/journal specifying that you're playing from the original version of the canon instead of the localization so there might be differences in characterization? do you drop the character, even though you enjoyed playing them until now?

That's what I did. I also mentioned the differences in a character survey, but hell if anyone reads those.

how'd that go? did it work out fine or did you get complaints from people more used to the localization because of the differences anyway?

Just add the note. Most people in fandom understand that official translations can miss the mark, it's not uncommon, unfortunately.

nah, that doesn't work. sticky posts don't count as the one entry on the page, so you end up with the sticky post and your latest post underneath. what op wants to do is the old fashioned method of forward dating the entry they want as their nav page to years in the future, so it's the only one displayed.
