Ticky tack clicky clack

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

then go to bakerstreet or a musebox and play it with the other person there at a pace that's more satisfactory to you. there are other options available to you to play the ship you want at the pace you want.

it's hard to be sympathetic toward players complaining that the 3:1 game they chose to app into is remaining 3:1. what did you expect?

I don't have any strong feelings on the ratio, if I did I would've said so. That doesn't make it any less skeevy to answer "I don't feel it's realistic to develop a ship in such a short span of IC time" with "just brainwash your characters!"

Mind control is a specific kink that isn't going to fly for a lot of players. At least your suggestion isn't telling people to go play noncon.

+1

Thanks for putting this in words better than I ever could.

anon, you replied in a thread about the 3:1 ratio in relation to shipping. it was a natural assumption to make. but your feelings are noted.

as for that player's suggestions, i read it as the player pointing out that players are free to create alternatives for themselves that work within the pacing and ships don't have to be dead in water. it probably could have been worded better but it didn't read like a suggestion to just go play noncon to me at all.

because being IC doesn't matter

I like this game already

maybe this is a trolling comment but i'm gonna reply to it straight

tfs is one of the few games i've seen in dwrp in which players are willing to unclench and play

it's one of the few games in dwrp that feels like a game anymore

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
so what you're saying is all games need to just throw standards to the winds and become tfln

(Anonymous) 2016-09-01 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
if it decreases the sheer amount of pretentious, vitriolic nonsense that plagues dwrp and sucks the fun out of nearly every single game on the site? yes, they should.

just join an ecats game already and stop with this melodramatic bellyaching

Yeah I'm kind of shocked this is even a thing. Whining that the 3:1 game you apped to is not going to change the time ratio to enable somebody to feel validated about how thoroughly they developed their close CR?

Everyone is in a new and strange environment. They're frequently fighting for their lives. Half of them have no memories. I'm sure you can find an IC way to develop close attachments on a faster time scale than the "six months to hand-holding" uguu bullshit. Bond over being the only person they can trust in a hostile world, for example!

And if you absolutely can't think of any justifiable way to do that, and shipping is that important to you, why did you app to a game with a 3:1 time scale in the first place?

(General you, since the anon I'm replying to has said they personally don't care.)
