Ticky tack clicky clack

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

how do you define accuracy or what elements make a character who they are? it's something entirely subjective that varies on individual factors. what you see as "absurdly ooc" isn't canon, no matter how attached you are to your perceptions or ideas of what the character is like. all fans have their own thoughts and feelings on canon and whether you agree with them or not, they're equally valid because fans don't know what's ic for characters they didn't make.

and of course, there's how you define what's ic for a character to begin with. what i consider ooc for characters is them behaving in ways that are completely illogical based on psychological traits they display in canon. other people consider any behavior that deviates from what's seen in canon at all as ooc, even if there's nothing going on in their present story that would showcase those traits.

your definition of what's "absurdly ooc" can be in direct opposition to someone else's interpretation of "perfectly ic". short of word of god itself, there's no way to prove either side is write so why stress about it at all?

so how often do you get told you're ooc? because this definitely sounds like the defensive ramblings of someone who has had to frequently defend their poor playing.

"i want to be as ooc as possible without any consequences and fuck you if you disagree because you can't ~PROVE~ it anyway" is all i got out of that stupid post.

i'm told the exact opposite.

i'm complimented on my attention to canon detail.

no one's ever told me i'm ooc once in all my years of writing fanfic or fandom rp. not once.

but if that's what you need to believe to reconcile the concept of someone who puts that kind of effort and analysis in for funsies and understands the difference between canon and fanon, go ahead.
